Pedestrian Cross Walk reminder begins in Batavia

Batavia Police Chief N C Ward opens a series of pedestrian cross walk reminders on Main Street with the first installation at Second Street. Motorists will face strict enforcement and must yield to pedestrians crossing within crosswalks. Pedestrians must also yield to traffic when crossing outside marked crosswalks.

Batavia to Hold Public Hearing on Main Street Bridge

A public hearing is set for 10 a.m. August 29 in the CG&E auditorium Batavia on reconstructing the Main Street Bridge over the Fork of the Little Miami. The $188000 project includes a new four lane span with widened approaches. county share $42000 and village $1000. Bids due next fall with completion estimated in 1970.

Lovelanders Fined For Littering Stream

Four Loveland residents were found guilty in Judge John D. Erhardt's County Court on Aug. 15 for littering O Bannon Creek. Homer Cole was fined 15 dollars plus 6 dollars costs for beer bottles on the creek bank. Olive Cole was convicted for a single bottle. Jerome Cole and Bonnie Cole were assessed costs for bottles and papers in the creek. The Marathon Methodist Church will host an ice cream social on Saturday, August 24 at 5 p.m.

Ralph L. Clyburn of 490 Shelley Drive Batavia has been promoted by The Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone Company to assistant editor. He began in 1961 as suburban advertising supervisor and will manage The Bulletin monthly employee magazine and other publications. He attended Butler University for 3 1/2 years and Xavier University Evening College. He served on the Batavia Village Council for four years including a vice mayor stint and is a Cincinnati Editors Association member. He and his wife Joanne have a son Jeff and a daughter Jenny.

129 acre tract near Batavia seeks a change from agricultural to general business and urban districts for a shopping center with apartments and single family homes. Hill Heads Saxbe's Senate Campaign

Attorney General William B. Saxbe named Hill to manage his Republican U S Senate campaign in Clermont County. Hill, an attorney and County Court Judge, previously served as Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney and holds memberships in local and national legal and veterans groups. Willowville Dad's club hosts a football clinic and ham and bacon shoot at McGuire field on Sunday August 25 from noon to dark. Boys in four age groups compete in passing contests with autographed Cincinnati Bengals footballs as prizes and free Pepsi for participants. Main prize is an 870 Wingmaster shotgun with steel and clay targets.
