Miss Adelaid Reed and guests lost a nine year old son in Cincinnati last Thursday. He wandered away during the day, returned about 10 o clock on a late streetcar, and was dropped off near Judd's Station by the conductor. He walked home across hills and valleys to the Reed farm, reuniting with his family for the night. Stay close to your mothers, boys.
Mrs Martha A Perin Cline widow of Dr J B Cline M D died at her son's Perintown home Friday morning at age 80. She left a son Dr Galen L Cline and daughter Mrs Owen Patchell of Oklahoma. She was a daughter of Gen Samuel Perin and granddaughter of Samuel Perin founder of Clermont county's village. A longtime educator and church worker she led education efforts and once served as Otterbein University president. Funeral was held at Perintown M E Church with Rev J D Darling conducting. Burial followed.
A past week party celebrated Ezra Anstaett’s 21st birthday at his parents’ home, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Anstaett. Guests included Hattie Sebastian, Alice Stuart, Florence Burkle, Alfrida Bissantz, Louise Purkhiser, Mary Suthels, Marie Smyth, Ella Nichols, Isabella Stuart, Agnes Smyth, Anna Huling, and many others with music, games, and luncheon.
Late rains and sun improved crops across the area. Corn on upland grows rapidly, tassel corn filling for large yields. Tobacco doubled in days, bottom crop topped, poorer ground near ready. Alfalfa advancing well, ready for another cutting. potato crop strong.
A Williamsburg group visited former resident Mrs. E S Rush in Batavia last Thursday. The outing included a social gathering, a bountiful lunch, and a hand painted plate presentation from Hattie Davidson, followed by a tour of new town structures before returning home.
The Ohio Experiment Station invites all state teachers to spend Tuesday August 27 1912 at the State Fair to view the station exhibit and other fair features. The invitation has the approval of the State Board of Agriculture and the State Commissioner of Common Schools and is issued on behalf of the Experiment Station and the College of Agriculture at Ohio State University.
Ten voters met last Saturday to select two boys from each county to attend the State fair at state expense. After four ballots Marshall Roudebush of Stonelick and Roscoe Crain of Tate were elected. First alternate is L. Guy Oraver of Stonelick and second alternate Will Jordan of Tate. Everett Groves was not chosen due to contest rule issues in the corn growing event.
The worthy matrons of the district are notified that the Grand Chapter of the OBE will meet in Dayton on October 22 28 and 24. Mrs Rosa Edwarda of Milford has received notice of an appointment to the Grand Chapter.
The Clermont County Teachers Institute opened last Monday in New Richmond with G E Donovan presiding. The program covers rural art, agriculture, soil, plants, and catalogued lectures by Prof. Kreglow and Supt. Jones, with evening entertainments and a town hall venue. Some frustration arose over delayed voting on next year’s location, with Bata via proposed as the most central, accessible site.
In Clark county both county and district Republicans appear on the Republican and Bull Moose ballots. Green county sees most Republican candidates filing Bull Moose petitions, and more may follow. Bull Moose voters can mark one box for home candidates while backing state and national tickets. Many counties likely to follow Clark’s example though the State asks candidates to pick one side. Local Republicans and Moosers largely unite on county and district tickets.
The Rebekah lodge district holds an annual meeting at Batavia Odd Fellows hall on September 20 with a lecture program and lunch provided by visiting sisters. Reports from lodges will be presented and membership efforts discussed. About 300 visitors are expected with ample accommodations for attendees.
Last Sunday at Harmon Brothers on Water street relatives gathered with well-filled baskets to honor the anniversary. A noon dinner was spread and guests enjoyed conversation on a day long remembered by all present.
Mrs. Michael Kohler, seriously ill with blood poisoning, was taken to a city hospital last Friday by Homer Buerkle and her husband on medical advice. They traveled by automobile.
Miss Marie Dore of Owensville will hold a no reserve sale at her home on Saturday September 12 at 1 pm. Household goods are offered and all under five dollars are cash, over five dollars may be bought on credit with a six month note.
Milford the Queen City League champion lost 8 to 2 at Bethel with Roy Golden pitching for Milford and Armour holding the visitors to four walks and three Milford strikeouts. Bethel, after five-run swing, held off Milford. next Bethel at Williamsburg on Saturday August 31.
David Cassidy sixteen fled from his father in Corbin Kentucky while en route from a brickyard. He wandered into Cincinnati where he slept in a wagon shed and later appealed to the juvenile court for aid. He refused to return home saying country life was too slow and prefers city life. He likely will seek work and stay in the city.

Stephen Byman an Austrian was arraigned in Chicago before Judge Sabath on a charge of beating his wife last week. He claimed to be the father of 20 sons all serving in the Austrian army, a claim he asserted no other living man can prove. He had been married three times and all his children were boys. He is 16 years old and received 20 days in the work house.
