Hail destroys corn crop near Serpent Mound Ohio
Hail in Adams county near Serpent Mound last week caused the most extensive damage in southern Ohio. A 200 acre corn field was pelted breaking ears from stalks and growing crops were ruined. Monster mud catfish nets 26 pounds on East Fork river
Laurel Brewer, a Roudebush farm resident, hooked a 26 pound mud catfish in the East Fork of the Little Miami river after resting his trout line near McAfee whirlpool. The fish measured 88 inches long and nine inches across the head, drawing hundreds of onlookers before the head was removed for steaks. State hatcheries have stocked the stream for years. Under law the fish could not be sold or given away.

The time for filing petitions closes September 4 and parties should file now. Many petitions already filed with more to come.
