Davis hill project eyed to improve Batavia Hamlet road
State Highway Engineer Frank Galbreath says overtime plans are underway for the Davis hill bypass between Batavia and Hamlet. The survey calls for a line starting near the Coombs residence and running along the hill to the left of the existing road about 100 feet, with September as the expected setting. The change should provide a new outlet to the county seat, and many will welcome the improvement.

Federal aid road contracts restrict workers to 80 hours weekly forcing two shifts of unskilled labor at 86 cents per hour and skilled labor at 60 to 78 cents. Clermont county has no federal aid project yet but may soon. Under the plan men could earn about 10 dollars weekly with some labor done by hand.
