Clermont agency seeks funds for day care center addition
Helen Armstrong says the Clermont County United Appeal & Community Chest plans a 5000 square foot day care addition for 100 children per shift next to the new Family YMCA. The project would use up to 250000 in construction funds plus 30000 for equipment and start up, with possible three daily shifts if factories run around the clock. The center would serve private pay and Title XX clients and aligns with a larger plan to rebuild the Chest building for Clermont and Brown counties.

Schools to receive tax funds early in 1983 second half
Batavia Clermont County certified the 1983 second half property tax collection to the county auditor and ready for distribution to schools, villages and townships earlier than last year. Treasurer David F. Smith reported 17.393 million dollars, 96 percent of the amount due, by July 20, with posting complete. By August 9, 14 working days later, last year’s second half was certified on the 15th. The earlier certification benefits schools and local governments by providing immediate funds and avoiding one month of interest. The regional collection program, started this summer, let taxpayers pay at banks and savings institutions and totaled about 1.26 million dollars, about 17 percent of total collections. Smith noted the payments helped reduce office volume. More than half of first-half taxes due last January were collected.
