Pony Club States Show At Coney Island Sunday August 15

The Southern Ohio Pony Club stages its annual Pony Show at Coney Island on Sunday August 15. Eighteen classes for children and their ponies will award trophies and ribbons. County Fair Opens in Owensville with Five Day events

The Owensville County Fair begins Tuesday August 17 at 9 a.m. with free grandstand admission for fair patrons. Highlights include the 4 H Horse Show Tuesday at 1 p.m. and tractor pulling on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Senior Citizens Day is Wednesday August 18 with free admission for those 75 and older. The Ted Mack Talent Contest, Cherokee Wild West Rodeo, and Rotroff All Girl Thrill Show run Thursday through Saturday. Auditions August 8 select local talent, with the winner earning an expense paid trip to New York City via Katavia, Ohio.

Board Rejects Motion To Restore Bus Service

The West Clermont Board of Education voted Monday to reject Chris Rosenhoffers motion to restore bus service. No second was offered and the curtailment followed the defeat of an operating levy. Bus service ended for high school students and residents within one mile of school. Three offenders were fined in Clermont County Court for using an explosive to take fish from Cloverlick Creek Bethel on June 20.

Band Concerts Fair Features Four High School Bands

The 1965 Fair will feature four high school bands and the Bethel Fife and Drum Corps. Northeastern Band performs August 18–21 in Milford Goshen Williamsburg with 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. programs. The fife and drum corps hold daily 5–6:30 p.m. concerts.

Cornelius Ketchum, 13, of 8546 Batavia Park, was struck from behind by a car while walking east on Route 32 near the State Highway Patrol Post. The driver, M L Hammons, 27, of 1244 Shayler Road, Batavia, was cited for drunken driving and Ketchum was treated and released at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital Mariemont.
