Farm Women's Club Picnic Highlights Williamsburg Township

Thursday August 6 a gala day for the Farm Women's Club of Williamsburg township. Twenty two members and families joined at Clover school grounds for an all day social with 71 at the dinner table. A program followed then games and conversations before returning home. A union meeting July 23 at Mrs Lesbee Hulick's home formed a township federation with officers named.

Batavia Centennial Celebrates Town Heritage and Visitors

Batavia held a two day centennial celebration with 1500 visitors registered, a relic room at the Armory, and multiple addresses by Mayor Burnet Judge Swing and Chief Justice Nichols. The event featured a spinning contest at the courthouse, an old fashioned picnic under the Sycamore, band concerts, and a large turnout for an evening play and home talent show. A partial guest list highlights many local families and residents from Batavia and nearby areas.

Suffragette Parade Draws County to Batavia Centennial

A large crowd gathered for Batavia centennial week with a militant suffragette parade forming at the armory led by the Scroggy band. Women in police uniforms carried banners while men on horseback and children in care floated past North Street and Main. A Cheyenne photographer captured the event and local speakers praised the Homecoming.

Teachers Institute Session At Williamsburg Attracts Large Attendance

Clermont County Teachers Institute opened a five day session at Williamsburg with strong attendance. Prof. Martzolff and Miss McNeal led a rich program including lectures on Ohioans, The Drama of the Ash Heap, The Keys that Unlock, Silas Marner, and The Exceptional Child. Active members and local hospitality marked the week as a notable educational outing.

Pike Contracts for State Roads Opened August Fourth

Bids were opened for 98 pikes including water bound macadam and concrete sections. County Board Reorganizes Districts and Names Superintendents

The County Board of Education met in Williamsburg and reestablished district lines. Northern District includes Wayne Goshen Stonelick Jackson. Central Batavia Union Pierre. Southern Franklin Washington Monroe Ohio. Loveland Milford Williamsburg Bethel keep their superintendents under county supervision. Institute program continues for a year under county control. summer school attendees not obliged to attend and may receive $10 aid.

Batavia Couple Wed in Cincinnati in Simple Ceremony

Lindley M. Groves youngest son of Mr and Mrs John Groves married Georgiana Manning of Moscow in Cincinnati last Wednesday. They plan a short wedding trip then reside in Ray North Dakota. Also Miss Harriet Moore of Madisonville broke her ankle while preparing for Batavia Centennial.
