Bank open house reflects cooperative staff at Amelia State Bank

Amelia State Bank officials and employees unite to support the bank’s open house for the new building this Friday. Directors Pom mert and Williams, cashier Jeffries, and other staff provided help with pictures, lighting, window cleaning, and writing while offering old records and vital details for the feature. The Clermont County board of education will meet Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the courthouse annex.

Circle Freeway Hearing Set for August 11 in Cincinnati

Ohio Department of Highways scheduled a public hearing at 10 a.m. August 11 in Room 316 at the Hamilton County courthouse Cincinnati to discuss the proposed 75 mile circumferential freeway routing designated as U S Route 50 52 Bypass involving Hamilton and Clermont Counties and an estimated cost above 70 million dollars. The plan would convert most of Hamilton County’s share into Interstate 275 with segments from Taylor's Creek to State Route 4 and onward toward Symmes Milford and Nine Mile Road area. Officials will explain the proposal to all interested residents.

Humane Society Seeks County Support for Second Dog Truck

Clermont County Humane Society plans to ask county commissioners on Monday August 15 for approval to buy a second dog truck and hire an additional assistant dog warden. Commissioner Charles Clark endorsed the need, citing overwhelming stray dog issues and limited manpower. The society will field Elzie Flora deputy agents at the Clermont County fair and warns exhibitors to properly contain and care for animals.

Court Settles Land Dispute and Relocation Payments

County approves 312 home Longfield Acres project

The Longfield Acres subdivision plan for 312 homes on 88 acres southwest of Wade and Buckwheat roads in Miami township received approval from the County Planning Commission's land development and zoning committee. Developers James B. Long and Eugene Maxfield of Madeira are named, with 44 acres allocated for recreation. An executive director noted the project complies with new regulations.

Welfare Director Ordered to Locate Office Space in Batavia

Wayne Oney county welfare director told county commissioners to find about 3000 square feet of rental space in Batavia to house the welfare department with rent paid from federal state and county funds. Quarters now in the courthouse annex will go to the county board of education. State officials prefer a site on county home grounds or another Batavia location.

County commissioners adopt a housing setback rule adding minimum distances from road centers to new homes.
