Ohio declares Protect Our Children Week to raise abuse awareness

Governor Gilligan proclaims August 6 to 12 as Protect Our Children Week in Ohio. In six months 1972, 77 child abuse and neglect cases were reported to the state department. Clermont County reports a few cases may be found yearly amid many neglect cases. public cooperation urged and a training workshop planned for welfare staff. Citizens urged to report suspected abuse to police or county welfare. An abuse prevention kit is available from the Ohio Dept. of Public Welfare.

Clermont County Fair Opens August 15 1972

Clermont County's 123rd fair at Owensville runs August 15 to 18 with 1274 4-H members exhibiting 2182 projects across conservation clothing veterinary science crops entomology home economics and nutrition. Livestock shows and contests including horse beef cattle sheep swine dairy and dog obedience highlight the schedule.

Steers for Clermont County Fair Show and Sale

One hundred top quality 4-H steers will be exhibited and sold at the Clermont County Fair by the 4-H Steer Club. The show is Wednesday at 1 p.m and the sale Friday at 1 30 p.m in the Live stock Show Arena. Steers weigh minimum 800 pounds and have fed since January 1. The fair runs August 15 19 with exhibits, contests, parades, and a Demolition Derby concluding Saturday.

Clermont residents are advised not to use SR 132 from Batavia to Owensville to reach the Clermont County Fair August 15 19. The segment between the ASCS office and Appalachian Highway interchange to Benton Road is relocated. motorists face citations. use Appalachian Highway Bauer Road Elmwood to SR 132. SR 125 west of Bethel reopens Friday August 11. SR 276 tile work now complete.

Acreage Sold To Developer In Clermont County Ohio

Snowden Armstrong of Development Concepts Fairfield Ohio announced 88 acres near I-275 and the Cincinnati Nature Center in Clermont County was acquired for a residential development after a zoning change in June 1972. The firm also contracts to buy over 200 acres at I-71 and Fields Extel Rd in Cincinnati for mixed use projects.

Milacron Plants Begin Groundbreaking For Two Facilities

Officials from Cincinnati Milacron Brown County Mt. Orab join in dual groundbreaking ceremonies Aug 7 marking the start of two plastics machinery plants. Each about 4.5 million dollars, 300 jobs, construction to finish spring 1973, with sitework and steel erection awarded to Clinton Asphalt Champion Bridge William Lang & Sons.
