Afton Man Involved In Route 125 182 Crash

Mr. Lang of Afton Clermont County skidded at the intersection of Routes 125 and 182 striking a telephone pole that fell across the road. Mrs Kelsey and Mrs Gates helped stop an eastbound Greyhound bus to clear the pole. Lang received scalp wound treatment from Dr Sperling in Amelia and was later driven home by Sheriff Brooks.

Ohio milkweed pod drive mobilizes farms and youth groups

An Ohio statewide effort led by C. D. McDaniel urged farmers to refrain from mowing wild milkweed. The campaign aims to collect pods this fall to supply the armed services. open-mesh bags will be provided and 20 cents per bag paid for dried pods. McDaniel coordinates with the State War Board from Columbus, with local contacts listed.

War report from Sgt Harold A Edinger R R 2 Blanchester Ohio and formerly Batavia says he has been accepted as a member of the exclusive I Bombed Japan Club. The group opened last year to Air Force combat personnel credited with dropping bombs on Japanese home territory.

Clermont County Fair to collect waste paper next week

Residents are urged to bring bundles of waste paper to the Owensville Fair from August 15 to 18. A county-wide drive will enlist 16 Scout Troops and 50 4-H clubs to sort and collect at the gates with Civilian Defense groups assisting. Funds from the sale benefit the County Scout Commission and County 4-H Board.

Floyd Hurd fined 25 dollars plus costs for disorderly conduct on Monday August 7. Clifford E. Rogers held on charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor with hearing set for August 10. Elmo Murray held on assault and battery with hearing August 10. Brother Backacheider charged with disorderly conduct with hearing August 10. Harlan Adams charged with fare evency out on 600 dollar bond with hearing August 10. Carroll Spencer held for peace bond charged with disorderly conduct and threatening his wife with hearing August 10.

Lawn Fete at Mt Moriah Church in Tabasco

Raymond S. Jackson Receives Distinguished Flying Cross

Technical Sergeant Raymond L. Jackson 27 of New Richmond Ohio earns the Distinguished Flying Cross for his many bombing missions against German and Nazi occupied targets. As right waist gunner on the Eighth Air Force B 17 Angel II he flown over Brunswick Berlin and other German cities and survived a flak hit that damaged the oxygen system.

Loveland Man Receives Air Medal for Meritorious Action

Staff Sgt. Marvin Stock of Loveland Ohio was awarded the Air Medal for meritorious achievement while serving as engineer and top turret gunner on a Fifteenth Army Air Force B 24 Liberator. He is noted for participation in aerial operations against Nazi targets in the Balkans Northern Italy France and Southern Germany. Stock is the son of Mr and Mrs Verne Stock and graduate of Loveland High School in 1941. He joined the armed forces in March 1943.

Milford Man Weds Marie Shields in Covington Ceremony

The marriage of Miss Marie Shields and Tech. Sgt. Mervin Johnson was announced. The Milford native and 1935 Milford High School graduate entered the Air Force in 1942 and completed 50 combat missions. He earned the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross and is assigned as a gunnery instructor at March Field, California.
