Ninetieth Clermont County Fair Opens Next Tuesday

Southern Ohio producers prepare as the Ninetieth Clermont County Fair opens with trials in harness racing, a pony race each afternoon, and new exhibits in the culinary, flower, vegetable and fruit, quilt and doll displays. 4-H, dairy, beef and colt clubs enter, with health and first aid displays plus a silver cup prize. The War Department recognizes Franklin D. Morrison as a dual-status National Guard officer.

Courthouse Closes For Owensville Fair Attendance

County offices will shut all day Thursday and Friday afternoon next week to allow officials to attend the Owensville Fair. Friday morning hours remain normal. those with business are urged to come in early.

Clermont County Fair Promises Large Exhibits and Attractions

Dairy exhibits are expected to surpass past years with a milkmaid contest open to women over 16. An appropriation of 750 dollars funds the Junior Fair. School exhibits return after years. Attractions include Sum n Abner Pine Ridge Band Follies, a Horse Show, and Renfro Valley Barn Dance artists. Clermont County Agricultural Society to elect directors

The Clermont County Agricultural Society plans an election at the Owensville fair grounds between noon and 2 P M on August 19. Township representatives from Goshen Williamsburg Jackson Wayne and Miami will each elect a director for a three year term, while Stonelick township will elect one director for a two year term.

Batavian Woman Dies After Prolonged Illness

Mrs. Ella Lane 82 longtime tobacco grower and widow of Albert Lane died Friday at her home. Burial Tuesday 10 30 from Moore Funeral Home with interment in Union Cemetery. Surviving are grandson Eldon Lane of Hamilton, two granddaughters, sister Mrs. Jos Seaman of Dayton.

School Exhibit To Be Shown At County Fair

Agitation for a county fair school exhibit has grown over two years. This year Milford Stonelick Rural and Williamsburg schools plan vocational Home Economics and Vocational Agriculture displays. The exhibit will mix explanatory material with products from vocational courses.

St Michael's Ripley Plans Second Annual Home Festival

Ripley Ohio holds the second annual Home Coming Festival at St Michael's Church July. Frank Germann leads as chairman with Sylvester Eveslage secretary and George Schneider treasurer. Workmen completed insulation of the Kramer Bakery and Lunch Room walls using Johns Manville rock wool to combat oven heat. Officials say four inches of rock wool equal an 11 1/foot brick wall's temperature resistance, cooling upstairs rooms.

Batavia Streets to Wear New Street Markers

Batavia streets will be dressed up with new street markers as Marshal Bart Kain and two workmen install iron posts along Main Street intersections. The Rotary Club proposed $150 for markers and Ayer Hardware offered to provide signs at cost. Fifty posts, each bearing two markers in black on white enamel will be set three feet in the ground and painted after installation.

Bethel Woman Falls Breaking Hip In Playful Dog Incident

Belle Johnston 79 of South Main Bethel fell Tuesday around 7 AM while crossing a lawn. Two dogs playing there rushed her causing the stumble. She was treated by Dr. Cully and taken by Kennedy Ambulance to Bethesda hospital. She rests easily and is mending as expected.

Voters in Mont county cast ballots in broad contests

About 8000 Mont county residents voted in 83 precincts for county and state offices. Voters faced school bond issues in Loveland Edenton and Williamsburg and a Bethel three mill tax proposal. Key races included Governor Davey vs Sawyer for Democratic nomination and Taft vs Day for Republican Senate nomination.
