Jail arrest in Batavia for firearms and ball game disturbance
In Batavia Sheriff G G Auxier arrested Sid Waters for discharging firearms and disturbing the peace and Hardis Himes for interfering with a ball game between the home team and the Turkey Bottom team of Cincinnati. They appeared before Justice Ralph Parker of Bethel Himes was fined 25 dollars and costs and Sid Waters placed under 500 dollar bond. Beth were placed in Batavia jail.

Ruth and Dorothy Young and Marie Watson hosted the Peter Pan Sewing club on July 25 at the Young residence on Ten Mile. New 750 lb Bell Aims to Wake Batavia Sleepers
Batavia Methodists will be summoned to church next Sunday by a new bell weighing 750 pounds. The old 350-pound bell was hauled down and replaced with a bell believed to be about 100 years old from Union Chapel, installed by Oscar Glancy and two workers. The church hopes the clearer tone will wake late sleepers for a few weeks.

Willis Funeral Held Friday in Clermont County
Frank L. Willis longtime Clermont County Commissioner died suddenly at 7 am Wednesday. About 1,000 attended his funeral at New Richmond's T. P. White and Sons Funeral Home with county officials and members of Grange Farm Bureau and other groups present. He was born March 5 1875 in Monroe township and served as trustee and commissioner. He helped spearhead Clermonts courthouse project and last acted at a township trustees meeting in Batavia. Surviving are his widow Elizabeth Garrison Willis daughter Mrs Clifford McKinley brother Dr K C Willis and several nieces and nephews.

First to Cut Tobacco Leads County Harvest
