Brothers Sentenced In Beating Case At Common Pleas Court

Herbert and Glen Simpson, Bethel Felicity area youths, received terms from one to 15 years for assault with intent to kill one to seven years for malicious destruction of property and one to five years for breaking and entering. A destruction of telephone instruments charge was canceled. They admitted beating Dora Abbott fifth grade teacher at Bethel Tate school months ago. They claimed they entered the Abbott home to rob. both found sane at Lima State Hospital after trial.

Tracy Resigns As Postmaster At Loveland

Loveland postmaster Robert V. Tracy resigns after seven years in the role. Frances De Fossett will serve as acting postmaster. The office has added three routes and a parcel post route serving about 4000 families and 16,000 patrons with over 90 staff to handle increased business.

Clermont County Anglers License Stats Revealed

State Auditor James A. Rhodes reported a wildlife division audit showing 3 647 fishing licenses issued in Clermont County with 7 265 total receipts. Hunting licenses totaled 645 716 nationwide generating 1 326 272 while fishing produced 2 031 in revenue to the state.

County Fair Opens with Thrill Show at Batavia Milford

The County Fair opens next Wednesday with the Jose Chitwood Thrill Show featuring 25 high speed events and a dangerous slide for life. Jim McCracken will perform The Slide for Life from a car hitting 60 mph, with Graser-Wolfe Chevrolet and Bob Williams Chevrolet sponsoring the event.

$6 Million Highland Homes Planned for Clermont County

A $6 million new home project by Highland Construction Co. will offer a planned community in southwestern Clermont County. The development features half-acre lots, topography adapted thoroughfares, and recreation facilities. Homes are prefab three bedrooms and one and a half baths built by Pease Woodworking Co. Engineers are W. A. Kemp Co. with B. S. Dietz Realty Co. handling real estate aspects.

Planned exclusive sales agents for new tract homes

Prices will range from 16000 to 18000. The first section to be built will include over 325 homes, increasing the county population by more than 1000. Total homes in the tract will reach about 500.

Clermont County Fair Opens With Horse Show And Thrill Show

The 107th annual Clermont County Fair begins next Wednesday at Owensville featuring a horse show at 1:30 p.m. and a polo event at 7 p.m. Other attractions include wrestling, livestock judging, Junior exhibits, and racing at 2:15 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Joie Chitwood’s Thrill Show appears Thursday night at 8 p.m. The grand parade starts Saturday at 11 a.m. and director elections run 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the fair grounds. The Vermont Western Saddle Club opens Wednesday’s horse show with a parade led by matched horses and color-bearing riders.

County Receives 7155.23 From Local Government Fund

State Auditor James A. Rhodes announced Clermont County’s share of the first distribution from the supplemental local government fund is 7155.23 dollars. Checks totaling 1.8 million dollars have been mailed to reimburse counties for revenue losses after a tax exemption for financial institutions.

Court Dismisses Indictments Against Four Chiropractors

Clermont County indictments against Frieda Kehrt Duke Galloway T P Stetler and Vermon Kline were dismissed by Judge Harry Britton. The cases charged practicing without a license under the term chiropractory which does not appear in the law.

Robert Holliday of Dayton has been named principal of Withamsville Tobaseco elementary to succeed C C Ratliff. The board picked him from 13 applicants and also hired Eunice Scott Rt G Batavia as a teacher. Holliday holds a master's in education from Eastern Kentucky State and has 10 years of administrative experience. He is married with two sons and is a veteran who served in the Army.
