Batavia public schools announce full faculty staffing before August 1 1945 contracts. Two grade openings followed resignations of Mrs Forrest Ely and Mrs J A Carter. replacements include Mrs Carrie Utter and Miss Mary Ruley. High school hires: Music Mr Alfred A Rigner English Mr James C Austin Commercial Miss Peggy Sellers. Principal Parrott praises the strong pool of teachers and welcomes them to the community.

Two Hurt In Auto Crash Near Mt. Carmel

An accident on the Cincinnati Pike near Mt. Carmel injured two couples from Cincinnati. Fred Sebastian and Mrs. Caudill were fined for intoxication, while Mr. and Mrs. Turner were hospitalized. Turner filed a warrant against Sebastian. bond was posted and a Wednesday hearing set.

Newtonsville Scouts Hold Three Day Camporal

Newtonsville Boy Scout Troops 486 and 468 ran a three day cam poral August 4 to 6 at Modest along Stonelick Creek. Scoutmaster Edwin Van Camp and Ralph Blair led with James Gerald as Assistant Scoutmaster. Gerald is an Eagle Scout with 45 merit badges. Four patrols and 24 boys attended. nine achieved first class swimming. Star Insignia awarded to Lee Miller for earning five merit badges beyond first class.

Clermont County Forms Safety Council for Farm Accident Prevention

Clermont County agriculturists organize the County Safety Council with W E Stuckey of Ohio State University Extension directing. Dale K Bee is chairman and County Treasurer John P Friend secretary. The group will survey farm accidents, track fatalities, and display safety information at the fair and institutes. Monthly meetings are planned with two dates set August 24 and September 21.

Subsidies May Boost Number of Lambs Fed

Subsidy payments to lamb sellers will take effect August 5 and run through May 1, 1946. Ohio State University specialist Floyd DeLashmutt notes subsidies should encourage heavier feeding after a drop in operations, with rates rising for lambs 65 pounds and up and payments issued via county AAA offices on slaughter evidence.

Garrard-Lent Wedding in La Salle Illinois

Mrs. Frank Judd of Forest Ave Milford announces the marriage of PFC Sterling Davis Garrard to Miss Marjorie Roth Lent last Saturday at St Pauls Episcopal Church La Salle Illinois. The bridegroom's father Rev Wayne A Garrard read the ceremony. Garrard is set to graduate from the University of Illinois Medical School and receive a commission as First Lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps. He attended DePauw Thornton Junior College Blue Island High School Sewanee and the University of the South and Phi Beta Kappa. He belongs to ATO Pi Kappa Epsilon and AOA and will intern at St Luke's Hospital Chicago. His mother Elsie Davis was a former Batavia resident.

Loveland Breeder Wins National Dairy Honors

Loveland breeder L. W. Nesbit earns national honors as Belle Ollie Posch, a registered Holstein, ranks fourth among junior three year olds in the yearly division. The 1944 honor list notes her 480 pounds of butterfat and 151 pounds of milk from the advanced registry test, exceeding requirements by 66.6 percent.

Mrs. A. H. Theis and daughter Mrs. Dorothy Irvin marked August 3 and 4 with a joint birthday party at the Theis home in Summerside. U S Artillery Bragg unit arrives at New Orleans from Charleston

The New Orleans Picayune notes that a company of U S Artillery under Lieut Bragg arrived in New Orleans from Charleston and would depart for Texas within a day or two. It also reports that about 450 men of the second regiment of dragoons will march from Fort Jessup to Corpus Christi by land once Texas Convention annexation is officially confirmed.

Death of Mrs T J Boyd In Loveland birth notices

The death of Mrs T J Boyd at age 77 or 78 is announced after months of illness despite tender nursing. Her life is described as one of good works and Christian example. In Loveland last week four births were recorded with a boy to Mrs Durzer Hibner and Lotz, and a girl to Mrs Nichols.

Corner Stone Laying At St Louis Church In Owensville

A large crowd gathered last Saturday for the corner stone ceremony of the St. Louis church in Owensville. The home team beat Fayetteville 6 to 4 in a well attended ball game. When finished the church will be among the finest in southern Ohio.
