Six Ballots Taken for County Patrolman Selection in Batavia

The Democratic County Central Committee met in the Probate office Batavia to pick a State Highway Patrolman for the county. Ten candidates stood, six ballots were cast, Alex Vaughn of Moscow won endorsement. Mention of Sue Ramsey and absence of Congressman Polk cited.

Friends of the bride and groom in Clermont county learn that Josephine Knight, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Knight of Williamsburg, married Ralph T. Wedgwood on Monday July 17, 1933 in Erie Pennsylvania.

Good Woman Gone Mrs Jacob Friend Passes Away

Mrs Jacob Friend died last Wednesday morning at 4 oclock at her home west of Batavia in her 62nd year after months of suffering. She belonged to the Eastern Star Chapter and Presbyterian church and was highly regarded. She is survived by her husband and two brothers Dr Marion Oxley of Hyde Park and Wilshire Oxley of Batavia. Funeral from Moore Funeral Home Saturday at 2 pm with burial at Milford.

Pioneer Passes: B F Mull Dies at 89 Near Owensville

B F Mull age 89 died Sunday at his Owensville area home. Born New Richmond he lived in Clermont county. Survived by a widow and one son. Funeral from the residence at 2 p m Wednesday with burial at Batavia.

Survey Complete For Batavia Sewerage System

Batavia plans a west side disposal plant on East Fork with government funds aid. Engineer Jack Fuller has finished the town survey and will report to the town council for approval. The survey covers the whole town to meet state requirements and address recent sewerage troubles.

Batavia Cruises Past Bethel as Tramps Lead NR League

Batavia defeated Bethel 10 to 2 with Williams collecting three hits for Batavia while Bethel had seven off Alice. NR Merchants suffer second defeat to Withamsville. NR Tramps beat Nobis Supply 6 to 3 and now lead the league. Batavia faces NR Tramps next, Tramps undefeated with four straight wins.

East Hill Farm Club Holds August Meeting

Seventeen members gathered at Mrs. Jennie Himes home for the East Hill Farm club August session. The program featured discussions on a club picnic and County Fair value, poems by Mrs. DeFrates and Mrs. Patterson, songs by Mrs. Buerkle and Mrs. Himes, piano by Miss Davidson, and a contest won by Mia Anna Maham. Refreshments followed and the group planned to meet in September with Mrs. Elizabeth Retzler.

Fatal Accident Kills James Ditmar At 10 In New Richmond

James Ditmar ten of New Richmond died after being run over by an A and P Co truck Saturday while riding a bicycle with Howard Gates. Driver Roy Bowles of Hamilton was exonerated by Coroner White. The body went to White Funeral Home. Clermont county 4-H events and fair contests follow the accident with demonstrations, fashion revue, baseball, health exams, and a large parade planned for Friday.

Owensville 4-H Club Holds August Meeting

The Owensville 4-H club met August 2 at 7 30 p m at the school with 45 members present. A ball game preceded the business session. An extra meeting is planned for August 4 at 7 p m. The Inter County Booster contest for Greene Clinton and Clermont counties is set for Monday evening August 14 at 8 30 at Sligo along U S Route No 3 with Goshen Grange among participants. Fair to Open at Owensville with Four Day Program

The Fair at Owensville Clermont County opens next Tuesday for a four day session. Three big bands perform midweek, with 4-H clubs and Garden Club exhibits, a quilt show and Floral Hall displays. Granges compete strongly while speed rings offer eateries and horse classes. A lively county event drawing crowds and friends.

Superintendent Resigns From Moscow Public School

Supt C G Pemberton resigns his position effective immediately and becomes eligible for a pension under the teachers retirement fund. The last ten years of his service determine pension amount and imply potential salary reductions for teachers. It is unclear what his next move will be. Mr Burkholder of Batavis is reported to have been employed.

Trucker Shoots Self at Camp After Quarrel

George Meister 23 a truck driver from 4734 Main Avenue shot himself in the left shoulder above the heart at the All In Camp Stonelick and Batavia Pike Sunday afternoon. He was taken to General Hospital. Police say he was despondent after a quarrel with his wife Mildred. A 22 caliber rifle was used.

Clermont Day at Cincinnati Zoo to Showcase County Events

Clermont Day organized by the American Legion posts of Clermont County will be held at the Cincinnati Zoological Gardens on Friday the 26th. Floyd Stevens of Batavia leads ticket sales with part of proceeds returning to Clermont posts. The Zoo plans a special entertainment series and local homecomings and reunions are on the program.

Facilities include dining hall tasks, library, barber shop, clothing, and athletic equipment. Forestry work began August 1 and transport trucks move troops. Tobacco acreage reduction plan offers $15 per acre

Raymond C. Smith, district tobacco agent for the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, explains the Ohio-Indiana district reduction program. Farmers who cut tobacco acres will receive a first payment of $15 per acre and a second payment equal to 40 percent of the 1933 market value per acre.

County school boards issue notes guaranteed by state and districts to meet expenses from January to July 1 1933 with five percent interest. Over $2,090,000 of notes already paid. half of county notes paid, half due soon. Payable by July 1 1934 from Educational Equalization Fund via cigarette tax. James Graham withdraws from Justice of the Peace race

James Graham of Wayne Township has informally withdrawn after filing his petition for Justice of the Peace. He requests his name be omitted from the ballot and the Election Board will grant the request. The withdrawal must be made in writing or in person.
