Elaborate preparations by St. Louis church Owensville for the Annual Homecoming on Sunday August 12 at the Owensville Fair Grounds. A chicken dinner will be served to more than a thousand guests from noon to 8 pm priced 60 cents for adults and 25 cents for children, with many amusements planned.

Geo. A. Keen former Batavian dies at his daughter Mrs. Everett Shipp's Washington home aged 88. He served as ex sheriff of Clermont County and was a Mason and Eastern Star member buried at Union Cemetery with Masonic rites. Survived by two sons Will Arch Keen and daughter Mrs. Everett Shipp and brother Thos A Keen. Lottie Stagg Moore, Batavian native, dies in Washington and is buried from Moore Funeral Home with three Stagg brothers among survivors. Gilbert Arns of Bethel bound over to grand jury for malicious destruction of property on $200 bond, later released when father posted bond.

County Agricultural Agent E B Baugh announces the government will reopen tobacco signup giving non signers last winter a chance to join and avoid a thirty three and one third percent tax. Three Clermont County highway projects announced this week

The State Highway client disclosed three projects in Clermont County: Williamsburg Bridge, 1.5 miles of A. P. Highway paving at Chile, and a new Bull Skin Creek bridge on the A. P. Highway at Rural. Start dates are not fixed but expected within two months. Governor White orders sidewalk and guardrail work on Route No. 50 from Perintown center to the school property.

Veterinarians Worldwide Join New York Congress

Dr J. C. Fitzpatrick of Amelia receives membership in the 12th International Veterinary Congress to be held in New York City August 13 to 18. The 75 year old organization includes leaders from 66 countries and marks the first U S gathering in America. Batavia Bridge Dedication Set For August 18

The dedication of Batavia's new bridge will take place on August 18 at 2 p m rain or shine. Contractors will present their portion of the program while finishing touches like sodding painting shrubbery cleaning up and polishing near ends are completed. Tobacco growers receive county checks for government rental

County agent Baugh reports 278 tobacco checks totaling 7728 dollars were received Monday from Washington for the first growers who completed contracts. Checks cover land taken from production and rented to the government at 20 dollars per acre. Smallest 2 dollars for a city lot on 0.1 acre. largest 170 dollars to Elmer E. Pierce of Franklin Township. Average is 35 dollars per contract.

Producers to Meet in Batavia on Friday Night

An important meeting of the Clermont County Milk Producers Union is set for Friday night August 10 at 8 30 PM in the Batavia Court House. The session will address issues affecting milk producers and farmers with principal speaker Michael Sborne, general manager of the Milk Producers Union and a member of the Cincinnati Sales Area control board.
