Batavia postpones the dedication of its new bridge to Saturday August 18 with an afternoon and evening program. Little Bobby Davidson will cut the ribbon joining East and West Batavia. A parade and dance cap the event as residents approve the architectural splendor and lights of the structure.
Lightning struck Mrs. Mildred Edwards in Goshen last week as she closed a bedroom window, burning her face and hands. The bolt knocked the chimney from the house and damaged barns and residences nearby. A barn owned by Mrs. Susie Scoville was blown from its foundation. Hail damaged crops, especially corn, across the area.
St Louis church members in Owensville prepare for the Annual Homecoming on August 12 at Owensville Fair Grounds. More than a thousand guests will be served a country style chicken dinner for 50 cents adults and 25 cents children from noon to 8 pm with various amusements. A separate report notes Morrow Feed and Supply Co in Pleasant Plain was completely destroyed by fire Monday night, loss around 50 000, cause possibly spontaneous combustion, Blanchester fire crew responded, crowds gathered, and 400 bushels of new wheat stored in the elevator were lost.
The text outlines plans for a Fair August 21 to 24 with 35 to 40 horses training for races. Chester Stands will judge and start the show rig and races. An amplifying system covers the grounds and P D Harris of Findlay supplies rides and thrillers. The pony track offers youth entertainment and soft drinks are sold for ice. Goshen PTA and Edenton church ladies manage land stands and dining hall under John B. Rapp.

Albert Krantz started work at the A P store in Milford. James Fetter and family spent Sunday with relatives. Jeanett Anstaett of Newtonsville visiting F Anstaett. Col Rudolph and Miss Doris spent week at Camp Perry. Cecelia Brothers spent Sunday at home. Mr and Mrs Nick Limerschien visited home folks Saturday. Rev Fox and family with friends from Lynchburg visited Mrs Anna Duchemin and sons. Mollie Case spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Farson in Evanston. D L Ritchie and F B Hoggatt attended a shoot at California last Thursday. Alvin Elliott and wife of Atwood Illinois spent Thursday with Mrs Mary Jones. A J Miller of city spent Sunday with Ritchie family. Mr and Mrs Alvin Warden of Cincinnati vacationing here with Scott Johnson. Mrs Helen Mounts of Pasadena spent a week with relatives. Mrs Virginia Burkhard entertained her bridge club Tuesday. Mrs Mnerva Roat of Loveland spending week with sister Miss Cole. Fred Bishop and wife spent Sunday at Belfast with Mr and Mrs W B Smysor and daughter.
The Ohio State Relief Commission allows 8447.22 to cover overdue teacher salaries. Checks go to school district clerks for distribution. some districts already received funds. Boards may issue notes from the State Equalization Fund to cover remaining general debts due July 1. The Busy Workers 4 H club met at Mrs. H L Doughman’s on July 25 with a picnic planned for camp and lunch served August 1.
The Young Republican Club of Clermont County sponsors a rally at Williamsburg school on Saturday night August 11. All state and county candidates are invited to attend to focus on the August 14 Republican primary. Thurman Dusty Miller, a Southern Ohio humorist and newspaperman, will give the principal address starting at 8 p.m. All attending candidates will be introduced.
Farmer Clifton Cook near Bethel faced weeks of stones thrown on his roof and lights flashed into his home. Sheriff Auxier Deputies Brooks and Abbott aided by the Protective Association. Henry Dodson and Gilbert Ames watched at night. Verner Coombs was accidentally shot as six shots rang out. Dodson and Arns were jailed in Batavia while Arns remained jailed and Dodson released temporarily.
Batavia churches announce Sunday August 5 services at Batavia Presbyterian led by Samuel Huecker and U B Church with Rev Ludwick. Sunday school at 9 30 and worship at 10 46. Pulpit closed after next Sunday until September 9. Quarterly conference elects Walter Bauer and Esther Schultz as delegate and alternate to Middletown拟 August 21.

Charles Alexis and Harold Haas pleaded guilty after arrest by Sheriff Auxier and deputies Thos Brooks and Frank Abbott near Williams Corner for operating a still and possessing whiskey. About 26 gallons seized along with a five barrel still and mash. Alexis sentenced to one year in jail on both charges. Haas released. Bond Hill is claimed as home. Alexis attempted suicide after arrest. The jail now holds 10 prisoners.
Mrs. Ella Glancy of lower Main Street slipped Thursday evening while viewing the new bridge. Friends aided her to a chair and called Dr. Colburn. X rays revealed a crushed socket. The limb was not set. sand bags were placed to secure it.
The county commissioners approved a list of payments totaling numerous small items. Names include Mark Atchley labor 2500 Bell phone service various contractors and suppliers such as Pred Oraie labor old Bethel church 876 20 Goodrich Silvertown tire rep J H Grimes labor, Ohio Pre Core road work Dale Pence stone and more with dates and amounts scattered through the record.

The Real Estate Transfers list numerous property deeds across Newtonnville Stonelick Batavia Pierce Milford and surrounding townships with multiple grantees and receivers. The Farmers Union picnic at Owensville Fair Grounds is set for Sunday August 5 with a speaker and invited attendance.
In the Clermont county league elimination rounds Batavia crushed New Richmond 12 to 4 on the road behind five Batavia triples off Fisher and Hawkins. Mt Carmel was eliminated earlier as Newtown defeated Mt Carmel 15 to 12. Williams burg, Edenton, Newtonsville and Amelia hold one loss while Owensville, Newtown, Tramps and Nobis face elimination next Sunday.
The clerk offers ballots to disabled and absent voters with mail or in person options. William Dowdney and deputy B S Rush will assist up to Saturday night before the election. It costs 24 cents to mail a ballot.
