The Cler mont County Fair Board Election will be held at the treasurer's office in Clermont County Fair Grounds on August 22 from 11 am to 3 pm. One director for three years from Stonelick Tate Union Washington Monroe townships and one director for one year from Ohio Township. Incumbents include Everett Glancy William Chapman Calvin D Richoltz Burdett Mathis and Jesse Osborne. County commissioners authorized Engineer Carl H. Bush to apply for federal aid to replace a covered bridge on Jackson Pike in Jackson township and relocate 3000 feet of roadway. Woman Slashes Wrists at Batavia Jail
Sally Gregory a 27 year old prisoner jailed since July 8 at the county jail slashed both wrists in the jail wash room Monday. She was removed by force, restrained and taken to Longview Hospital by the Batavia Life Squad. Gregory was jailed on a charge of aiding and abetting a breaking and entering at the Herman Nickell residence on Route 222 north of Batavia.

Escapee McKewen Sent Back to Batavia Jail
James Gray McKewen, 29, of Cincinnati, who escaped from county jail Friday, was captured Sunday at 3:30 a.m. in Louisville by city detectives. He had been near completion of a six month term and faced extradition to New York on a parole violation for armed robbery.
