Key Positions Named In United Appeal Campaign

Clermont County residents were named to 39 key posts for the 1963 United Appeal effort raising 7 284 752 for 126 health welfare and charity agencies and Red Cross services. Appointees include district vice chairmen for geographic areas guiding volunteer recruitment training and neighborhood fundraising. Campaign begins September 3 with about 30 000 volunteers.

Rink's Names Man To Develop Ads

John J. Marco is named to develop and coordinate newspaper advertising for Rink's Discount Department Stores in Hamilton Milford and Xenia units. He has ten years in Hamilton Journal News advertising and sales and earlier roles at LeSourdsville Lake Amusement Park and Middletown News Journal. Marco is an Ohio University commerce graduate with a BS degree and resides at 138 Edmonton Place Hamilton with five children.

Three-Car Crash Injures Four Near Milford

Four people were injured in a three car collision on Rt. 50 three miles east of Milford at 1 10 am Sunday. Injured were Alice Young Ruth Black Saundra Black and James Steiner who were taken to Bethesda Hospital and released. Mrs Young was cited for driving left of center after the crash involving George Peppington Steiner and Youngs car.

State Tax Distributions to Localities Rise in 1963

State auditor reports six major taxes shared with local governments totaled 229,667,825 for fiscal 1963. Auto license distributions led with 82,017,145, up 4,938,477. gasoline taxes fell to 55,245,610, down 345,573. Intangible tax revenues rose 2,363,961 to 32,683,754. Public utilities excises increased 1,540,272 to 25,300,553. Liquor license fees reached 9,482,286, up 427,337. sales tax distributions remained 24,000,000.

Durbin Named to Ohio Weights and Measures Conference Plan

Elmo Durbin deputy sealer of weights and measures was named to the committee planning the 39th annual Ohio Sealers Association and Ohio Department of Agriculture conference. The session will be in Reynoldsburg in September with Durbin and other appointees. Durbin also serves as a trustee of Union Township. Robert Slough of Akron, president of the Ohio Sealers Association, appointed him per Clermont County Auditor Earl Metzger who also is county sealer.

Dr George F Bauer a Presbyterian minister from Ft Beach Florida will fill the pulpit at Batavia EUB Church Sunday August 11 at 10 30 am Rev William D Worth will preside Dr Bauer taught German at Batavia high school and has held pastorates in Sistersville West Virginia where he was Synod moderator in 1936 He later moved to Ft Myers Beach and now visits Batavia with his wife Georgia for a month. He praises golf as a leisure activity.

The 19 cow Registered Holstein herd of Frank B. Goodnough in Loveland is enrolled in Herd Improvement Registry testing. Cancer Society To Show Films At Clermont Fair

AMENSVILLE The Clermont County Unit of the American Cancer Society will present hourly educational films on cancer at the Clermont County Fair August 13 to 17. Showings run 11 a m to 8 p m Tuesday through Saturday with literature provided. Applications for reservations to the Cancer Detection Clinic will also be taken at the fair.

Thieves Jack Front Wheels From New Car at Batavia Garage

Thieves jacked up the front of a new car at Graser-Wolfe Chevrolet on Main Street Batavia and stole two front wheels and tires valued at 60 dollars. The vehicle was left in the rear of the business and the theft was found Sunday morning, Batavia Police Chief Ed Colon reported.

VA Urges Use Of Claim Numbers In Correspondence

James C. Robison of the Cincinnati Regional Office urges veterans and relatives to include a claim number serial number or date of birth along with the veteran name. The VA handles about 67 000 pieces of mail monthly and many files include common names like John Smith delaying replies and increasing inquiries. A deceased veteran’s claim number is marked with an X and following the procedure could speed up responses.

State Subsidies Distributed Across Welfare Programs

State Auditor Roger W. Tracy announced the first 1964 fiscal year payments totaling nearly six million dollars for three welfare programs. The dependent children program received 4,360,445.08 across 86 counties, disabled aid totaled 1,290,358.36 for all counties, and blind aid 307,337.88. Major school subsidies for fiscal 1963 reached 253,680,845, up 7.2 percent from 1962.
