MILFORD The Clermont County League of Women Voters board will meet Thursday at 1:00 a.m. at the home of Mrs. William Fay, with new president Mrs. Ralph Hawkins presiding. Cincinnati consultant Mrs. R. J. Nance will attend to help plan programs for the coming year. Meetings run October through May on the third Wednesday evening and third Thursday afternoon. September opening will be on the third Thursday afternoon only.
Clermont County plans an umpire association to serve all organized baseball. Eligible applicants aged 16 and over may join and a training school will run early next year for the 1964 season. Led by Robert Witte, the movement cites growing knothole and school baseball for 1600-plus players. contact Witte at 1410 Locust Lake Rd Amelia or call 753-6165. The Batavia Rotary Club sponsors a Friday auction August 2 at 7 p.m. at Riverside and River St Batavia. Harold Bissantz will conduct the sale with appliances furniture tools toys and misc items available.
Rev. Donald E. Jones will assume the pastorate of Central Baptist Church on Aug. 21. A Blue Ash native, he hails from Amelia fente First Baptist in Goshen and studied at Cincinnati Baptist Bible School. He is married to Mary Jane, a teacher, and they have a three year old daughter. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. worship at 11 a.m. evening service at 7:30 p.m. midweek service Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
A free pancake breakfast for all comers is set for next Thursday August 8 from 9 to 11 am in the Kroger parking lot on Main Street. The menu features pancakes sausage juice and coffee, provided by Kroger and Quaker Oats.
An industry meeting is set for Friday August 2 at 8 p.m. at Williamsburg High School. Residents may buy stock at 100 dollars a share to raise about 33 195 dollars for a new Williamsburg development corporation project. Funds will be loaned to the Cincinnati Box and Partition Company under an agreement with James White to buy the Williamsburg Chair Factory Inc. Filing for offices at the Clermont County Board of Elections has risen sharply. A $515,000 bond issue from the Epic Diaseman Education would fund a new junior high, expansion of buildings, and site development, running 23 years at $2.55 per $1,000 property value. Names listed include Lyte, Coombs, Stone, Edwards, England, Henson, Osborne, Miller, Strosnider, Clark, Gaskins, Berger, Morel, Wisby, Cann, Malott, Grossnickle, Mauss, Foster, Reed, Fischbach, Murray, Winder, and Wernicke among others.
Two young women Miss Mildred Ernst and Miss Lorraine Cappel depart St. Thomas More School to join the Catholic Lay Mission Core for a year. They will teach in a Spanish speaking area of San Antonio Texas and undergo intensive Spanish training. Ernst N Georgetown native and Cappel from Mt. Washington will teach in English but work mainly with Spanish speakers. They plan to depart for their Mission School mid August.
James Sparks of Mt. Carmel and J J Callahan of Milford were among 39 participants in GE Evendale's three year Manufacturing Training Program graduation July 11. The class started with 60 and is the eighth at Evendale. General manager Davi Shaw urged quick application of new skills for rapid advancement.
Holy Trinity Church will hold its annual summer festival on Sunday August 11 on the church grounds Sixth Street Batavia. Chicken and roast beef dinners will be served from noon to 7 pm with refreshments booths and games for the family. Grand awards include a 1963 Rambler and a hand made quilt. Rain or shine with shelter and ample parking.
Diana Behymer 20 of 807 Ohio Pike suffered facial neck hand and leg burns when a gas stove oven exploded while she lit it. She was treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital by the Withamsville Life Squad.
