Clermont Scouts Embark on Philmont Expedition Adventure
Twenty three Clermont Scouts and Explorers depart Amelia School by bus for Philmont National Scout Ranch with Scoutmasters Merril Schaffer and David Sams. The group plans sightseeing en route then ten days of back packing across Philmont's 215 square miles, covering over 50 miles with camping, burro packing, rock climbing, and explorations of geology and archaeology. They expect to return August 14, and aim to set a high pace after year-long training under Dan Beard Council leaders.
