Born February 7 1814, he lived a life of work for producers and consumers, civic improvement, and church service, including 40 years of stock dealing, railroad activism, and education board leadership. He died July 26 1903 leaving a son and widow Felicia H. Sinks.

Death's Cruel Hand Touches Family in Tragic Loss
Amy House Nichols, aged 21, died July 29 1903 at the Batavia Ohio home of her adopted parents Senator H L Nichols and Mrs Dean Nichols after years of illness. Born in London Indiana 1882 she was adopted as daughter and valued for her beauty, gentleness and charity. Funeral rites in Batavia included Rev Howard Billman and Judge Frank Davis with a large floral escort.
