Today is the final day to list personal property for taxation and claim a $100 exemption. Everyone over 21 must file a sworn statement so assessors can verify who has listed and locate those who have not. Personal property is scarce as money shifts to non taxable securities.
Ohio physicians from across the state and neighboring regions converge on Cleveland May 18 to 15 for the 78th annual Ohio State Medical Association meeting. Dr Joseph Bardin of Portsmouth retires as president. Dr Geo Edw Follansbee of Cleveland to be installed as president. Clermont County delegates include Dr F A Ireton Batavia Dr C Davison Bethel and Dr A B Rapp Owensville.
The County Sunday School Convention planned for Bethel on May 2 and 8 is postponed to May 16 and 17. It will be held at Bethel with the same program. Officials thank Bethel for cooperation and local publicity. J. L. Anderson C. P.
The Batavia Woman's Club gathers May 8 with Mrs. Bishop hosting. Roll call covers New Inventions and What Medical Science is Doing for Us, led by Mrs. Ireton. Humorous Reading by Mrs. Friend is also planned.
Harshal Hager and Miss Laronah Smith of Amelia married by Rev. J. F. Schwab at his Batavia home on April 28. The couple, joined by the bride’s parents L. Smith and wife, returned to Amelia to a welcome and a bountiful wedding feast.
Sunday incident in Amelia saw Miss Jessie Coulter crossing the road when Tib Day’s slower car struck her, knocking her down and causing a broken rib and bruised side. Day described as driving slowly and the collision as purely an accident.
The Street Committee reports progress on street repairs over the past weeks. Ayer's garage area is finished and holes around town are filled with fine crushed stone prior to oiling. Work from the bridge to the N and W crossing is overhauled this week with stone and top dressing before oiling.
County Commissioners opened bids on Saturday for the sale of sixty thousand dollars in Felicity and Bethel pike bonds. Premium bids came from A E Aub Co Cincinnati Provident Bank Cincinnati Bud E H Cincinnati Seasongood Meyer Prudent Co Title Guaranty & Trust Co N Hill Co were listed among bidders with varying premiums and the Hill Co cited as success bidder.

The Ohio presidential preference primary on Tuesday drew scant turnout with likely under 800 votes in the county and fewer than 1000 registered voters in Cincinnati. Only delegates to be chosen, not direct counts, and critics say the process costs money with limited impact. figures were not yet available as the August primary looms.
Cemetery trustees completed a project on Cemetery Avenue from the Williamsburg pike to Union cemetery. Buerkle and Pringle built a durable macadam water bound road and cement walk, providing town water on the grounds. The improved cemetery yard is praised as one of the county’s best kept. A plan to improve the recently purchased cemetery field will begin soon.
Russell Bayha 20, of near Batavia, died Sunday in Cincinnati after an operation revealed paralysis of the bowels. A 1928 Batavia High School graduate, he managed his mother's farm and planned to expand farming. Survived by a mother and sister. Funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church. burial in Union Cemetery.
Amelia community forms the Amelia Cemetery Association to care for the I O C F and Methodist cemeteries. Officers include J R Hicks president Louis C Hopkins vice president P M Offutt treasurer Jessie Colter secretary Bennett Behymer Howard Hancock Mrs Laura Dial Fred Temple Lafayette Nash. Membership costs 50 cents yearly with an invitation to pledge $2 annually for five years.
Colonel Thad H. Brown announces reappointment of Clermont county Deputy State Supervisors of Elections for the term starting May 1 1924. Republican appointee is F B Bishop of Goshen Ohio and Democratic appointee is Walter M Musgrove of Bethel Ohio.
Dr. H Stirling Moore aged 52 died at home after months of illness. He practiced dentistry and headed H S Moore & Son undertaking firm. He belonged to Presbyterian church and lodges Masonic and Odd Fellows. He leaves a widow, a son, two sisters Nannie Smith of St Augustine Florida and Fay Dorsey of Louisville Kentucky. Funeral held at 2 pm Thursday with burial in Union cemetery.
The text outlines wills for Maude V. Taylor Eliza J. Meyer and Martha J. Cook. Maude leaves all estate to husband Richard G. Taylor after debts are settled. Eliza leaves personal property to Othelia Dennis and Vara Myers Dennis and real estate to them jointly after debts. Martha bequeaths all debts paid and entire estate to sister Charity P. L. Parker.
Deceased owners Sarah R Jones and Fannie V Masten convey property by affidavit to heirs and buyers. Multiple transfers include 28 acres in Williamsburg Township, 101 acres in Franklin Township, various lots in Bethel and Stonelick townships, 77 acres in Miami Township, and other parcels through heirs and designated grantees.
Kentucky Ohio Indiana Tennessee West Virginia Missouri and Virginia tobacco growers who sold 1922 crops through the Burley Tobacco Growers Co operative Association will receive the May 20 third payment. Earley says this payment may equal or exceed prior advances, pushing total 1922 crop payments above 42 million dollars with further settlements planned as remaining inventory sells.
