The Methodist Philathea class drive to fund a Sunday school room at Amelia ended last Saturday. Mrs. W C Hutson and Mrs. W Williams organized a friendly contest won by Mrs. Hutson with a large margin. Over 2800 dollars was raised, with the top individual giving 467.50 by Mrs. Frank Dillon. High winds topple roofs and poles across towns
A strong Monday wind ripped a barn roof from the Norris summer home on the hill. The same storm toppled four telephone poles near Owensville, testing the area’s metal structures and telephone lines.

Prominent Lady Lillian M McNutt Dies at 78 in Ohio
Lillian M Davis McNutt of Williamsburg died after an abscess rupture following an operation at Christ hospital Cincinnati. A devoted wife and mother of five, she served in the Methodist church Ladies Aid and missionary circles, taught Sabbath school, and supported local education.

Former Clermonton Clerk Elmer Medaris Dies in Michigan
Elmer Medaris, formerly of Clermonton, died last Tuesday April 15 at his home near Ewen Michigan. He lived in the county, farmed in southeastern Michigan near Monroe, then Kansas before moving to Ewen five years ago to enter the lumbering business. He leaves a widow and seven children including a daughter Nellie who died at age eight. Pneumonia was the immediate cause. He was a brother of Mrs. Edwin C. Ely of the area.
