Bissantz Trial Heard This Week in Clermont County

The trial of former commissioner Harold Bissantz opened Monday at 9:30 a.m. on the Clermont County Common Pleas docket for a five day session. Indicted January 23, 1981 by a Clermont grand jury, he faced charges linked to soliciting votes from George E. Cee and other diners in 1980.

Williamsburg school board weighs program cuts amid budget squeeze

Middle East Fork sewerage hearings open planning

About 60 residents attended the first MEF public meeting on a planned sewer project covering Amelia Batavia Bethel Williamsburg and parts of Batavia township and surrounding townships. The $253 944 planning cost is largely funded by a 190 458 EPA grant with 53 486 from Clermont County Sewer District. Balke Engineers will present alternate proposals at upcoming meetings to decide the sewerage system and area.

Citizen threatens to sue for prosecutor's letters

John F. Hitch told commissioners he has asked Batavia attorney Andrew Dennison to pursue a suit to obtain copies of two letters from County Prosecutor George E. Pattison a letter of intent to participate in an Enhanced 911 Emergent Reporting system and an agreement permitting the company to install along Clermont right of way. Commissioners referred Hitch to the prosecutor. In regular business the board authorized issuance of 250 000 in economic development revenue bonds for a Kinder Care center at 181 and Buckwheat Road in Miami Township.
