Around the County reports training using breathing apparatus. The second and third stories feature windows for rescue and ladder practice. A break-away roof panel provides repelling practice. The tower may be viewed during the festival.
Batavia Rotary Club sponsors its final field day for children from kindergarten through sixth grade at Batavia High School athletic field. The event starts May 9 at 10 a.m. with activities including dashes, three legged races, sack and egg races. Ribbons for winners and participants awarded. refreshments available. public invited.
A local GOP women gathering is scheduled at the Oak Tree Restaurant at 11 30 a m with attendees including Rea Vane Ca Watt Beboca Metheen Hager Ad Vis a and Lisa King. Information may be obtained by calling 831 8487.

In Clermont County Common Pleas Court jurors convict former commissioner Bissantz of bribery. Sentencing set for 10 a.m. with Bissantz free on his own recognizance. Lawyer James Perry asked for a pre sentence report. Perry declined comment. Contd. on page 2.
Union Two planners suggest limiting commercial development on the Spinnenweber Builders tract citing high intensity use and traffic concerns at Glen Este Williamsville Road controlled by a traffic signal. They flag steep slopes of 25 to 50 percent and severe erosion hazards, recommending a B-7 planned district with the plan as presented, restricting further development.
The Camp Allyn expansion proposal includes two summer cabins and an outdoor swimming pool. A Rotary spokesman called it a real opportunity and asset to the community. Batavia Fire Department and residents face disruptions as the petition was read before the commissioners last Thursday. no action has been taken.
A group led by Paula Deimling seeks annexation of about 300 acres from Milford including 1275 overpass area. Eight of 11 property owners petition to join the city, with ownership concentrated in the Gatch family. The proposal covers property along SR 131 and US 60, including a 20.18 acre cemetery, with other signers Gary Hacker Wilbur Binn and Katherine Gatch among petitioners. The city and owners have hired a land attorney as the annexation pack proceeds.
