Contract Signed For MGS Extension To School Site

Clermont Northeastern boards sign a contract with county for an MGS water main extension from Owensville to the high school site on U.S. 50 and Newtonsville Hutchinson. Project cost estimated at 550,000 with $25,000 due at signing and $5,000 yearly for five years. credit for customers moved to the school site. The county seeks federal aid to cover about half the cost.

Ex-Deputy Hurt In Cycle Mishap

Chatterton 40 of Amelia suffered two broken legs Monday when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by Fred Runde 59 of Willowville on Rt 125 near Williams Dr in Cherry Grove. He was taken to Christ Hospital Cincinnati in poor condition. Runde was cited for failure to yield.

Clermont County Taxable Wealth Rises Amid Liquor Fees

Ohio Auditor Roger Cloud announced Clermont County’s total real, personal, and utility property value climbed to 3,859,030 in the year from 218,071,006, a dramatic rise unseen in neighboring counties except Hamilton. Per capita liquor sales totaling 789,113 from all sources will fund a quarterly liquor license fee distribution of 10,096 to the county and its subdivisions.

Fire destroys Amelia home of Gilbert Sellers Jr family

The five room frame house on Lyons Road near here was burned Sunday afternoon. Fire officials said the origin was undetermined. BMOP Fire Department responded and called Pierce Township for a tank truck as its supply ran low, with trips to a distant cistern needed.

Hearing continues in fatal shooting case in Clermont County

The case of Curt Barger 32 of Rt 1 Hamersville charged with first degree murder for the April 18 killing of Colonel Woods 34 of Rt 1 Moscow began and paused amid witnesses including Patrolman Jess Woolsey and Chief James Bradley. If bound for the grand jury the trial moves to Friday.

Fatal crash on U S 50 near Clermont County

A westbound car driven by Arthur L. McQuiller, 31, of Hillsboro, struck a bridge abutment on U S 50 near Monterey at 10:05 a.m. He died at 12:40 p.m. from head injuries. State Highway Patrol investigated. Clermont County to receive 11200 in April gas tax shares and 213313 in auto license revenue sharing.

East Fork Dam Fight Forms Clermont Group

Light May 3 Primaries Expected With Few Contests

Election officials forecast a light turnout for the May 3 Republican and Democratic primaries as no contests exist for major offices. Only local issues include a Zoning Code for Williamsburg Township and a $217,000 Felicity Franklin School District bond measure. Countywide, few candidates filed for precinct committeemen, leaving many unopposed races at the county level and committee appointments by party executives.
