Bartender Held for Murder in Moscow Man Case

Curt Barger 32 of Hamersville is jailed without bond on first degree murder charges after the Log Cabin bartender allegedly shot Colonel Woods 34 of Moscow with a .38 pistol at 4 a.m. Woods died at New Richmond Life Squad arrival. Services set at Moscow Methodist Church. Woods survived by wife Sandra and six children.

County Seeks X rays for Jail Prisoners and County Projects

County commissioners study a proposal by the Imont County Tuberculosis Health Association to chest X ray jail prisoners as a disease preventive measure. Sheriff Donald Watson questions feasibility due to staffing and time in jail. The commission also approves telephone cable work on Belfast Road and Cedarville Road, and Marathon Edenton Road projects including pole changes. A PUB water service request for Tealtown Rd is denied for insufficient water main redundancy. Sidewalks on State Rt 125 near Mauch is requested again. state action pending. A study of an accident prone section of Rt 125 near Cherry Grove is planned, and three identical salt bids of 20 per ton for the MGS Water System are received from Morton Salt Co, Diamond Crystal Salt Co, and Hardy Salt Co.

Surplus Farm Property Action Brings $5308

A public sale Tuesday of surplus U S Department of Agriculture property at Batavia brought in 5308.75 dollars. Major items were 24 grain bins with bids from 150 to 235 dollars, attracting buyers from W Hebron Kentucky and Highland County as well as Brown County. The sale was conducted by Clermont County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for the Commodity Credit Corp with move-out required by May 20.

Supreme Court Hears Incorporation Arguments

The Supreme Court of Ohio heard Clermont County incorporation disputes with proponents arguing the trustees erred by removing the ballot question and that annexation should await ruling. Opponents said no appeal provision exists and urged proceeding with annexation, a position previously rejected by lower courts.

Five Hurt In Wrecks Near State Route 131

Mrs. Flora M. Wesley, 27, of Goshen and her seven months old son Duane sustained minor injuries when their car overturned on Pleasant Hill Road near State Rt. 131 early Sunday. They were treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont, and Mrs. Wesley was cited for faulty brakes.

Batavia senior earns Sousa Award at spring concert

Batavia High School senior band member Bill Walker received the John Philip Sousa Award for outstanding musicianship and service. He heads the flute section, studies at the Conservatory, and plans to enter the University of Cincinnati pre law program this fall. Walker is active in the National Honor Society and church groups.

License and Gas Tax Revenue Totals Revealed

State Auditor Roger Cloud announced a partial payment on the first advance distribution of auto license revenues for 1966. Clermont received 213,313.50 with the remaining balance due next month, including 5 percent equalization money for counties. Clermont also got 11,200 in the April gas tax distribution.
