Crash Victim’s Services Held for Amelia Man

Services were held for Marvin E. Hutton 49 of 1751 E Ohio Pike at Amelia Methodist Church. Hutton died 3 15 a m Saturday from injuries after his car overturned on Ten Mile Rd 1 2 mile west of Lindale and landed on its wheels. He worked at CG E Beckford plant and was taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Survived by wife Nettie two daughters Myrtle Handorf Covington Ky coma Wash and five grandchildren.

Duncan Here To Autograph Book

Charles Bruce Duncan of Mariemont, author of The Magnificent Breed from Johnson Hardin Fairfax, will autograph copies at Mary Lou Hartman’s Book Section Batavia from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday April 29. Congressman William H. Harsha announced Tuesday the appointment of Richard Stillwell of Miamiville to the Annapolis Naval Academy. Stillewell, Milford High School senior, was on the It’s Academic team and on the track team, son of Mr and Mrs Myrl Stillwell, will report in July and plans to major in aerospace engineering.

CAC Pays Tribute To Dr Philips Greene

The Clermont CAC cancels its April 27 monthly board meeting at Cincinnati Gas & Electric Batavia after the death of Dr Philips Greene. He led health initiatives, served on trustees and committees, and inspired efforts to improve childhood health and dental clinics in Clermont County. The CAC and regional groups honored his memory with a period of silent prayer.

David O Kibler Dies of Heart Attack at Mt Utah Home

David O Kibler, longtime Mt Utah resident and former president and major shareholder of the Citizens Bank of Leesburg, died of a heart attack after years of heart disease. Born Oct 29 1896, he directed the Tennessee Walking Horse enterprise and held various lodge and club memberships. Funeral services were set for today with burial at Mt Crab Cemetery.

County Hospital Discussion Sets Public Meeting in Clermont County

A public meeting at 8 p.m. May 2 in the CG&E Auditorium Batavia will feature a panel including the Clermont County Hospital Citizens, the County Medical Society, William Wolfe of the Ohio Division of Health and Medical Facilities and Donald Buckley of the Clermont County Planning Commission. Topics cover hospital need methods to achieve one, and Federal aid. They will analyze citizen attitudes toward a hospital bond issue and operating levy rejected in the past. Discussion includes options: a County General Hospital funded by public money, a for profit or non profit hospital funded by private or public funds, and Federal Hill-Burton and Appalachian funds, plus State Bond support. GLEN ESTE The Glen Este PTA meets April 27 at 8 p.m. in the cafetorium to discuss student health and nation state issues with panelists including Mike Randol, Penny Purcell, Darlene Inabnitt, Dennis Bacon, John Randol and Tim McKeirnam. Mary Ruth Stevens moderates. Questions include the effect of national conditions on students, whether sex is a problem, dress freedoms, and smoking lounges at school.

Two Planners Returned Road Work Is Scheduled

The County Commissioners reappointed Sam Maham of Williamsburg and Charles Wikoff of Day Heights to the Planning Commission. They approved a $447 flag purchase for county offices and designated several roads for blacktopping with specified mileages. Additional two-mile double-surface projects are listed for multiple roads, outlining planned improvements.

Stumpf Named County Auditor for Clermont County

Arnold Stumpf was chosen Tuesday night as auditor of Clermont County. He previously worked under the late H. Earl Metzger who died earlier this month and may run for the office if he chooses. Stumpf also served on the staff of the late Blythe.

Miss Clermont County Pageant Set For Sunday

The Miss Clermont County Pageant, a Miss America preliminary, will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bethel High School. Sponsored by the Ripley Theater Guild, it features eight contestants with a final in Ripley on May 13 for the Miss Ohio Valley title and a Cedar Point Miss Ohio Pageant berth in July.

Loyalty Day Observed in Clermont County Parade and Speeches Planned

Sunday April 30 marks Loyalty Day sponsored by the Clermont County Council VFW and Auxiliary with American Legion World War 1 Barracks and school bands. The 1:30 p.m. parade will feature Harsha as keynote speaker Debby Luckey will read her essay What Democracy Means to Me county officials will speak amid warnings against anti American tactics by Communists and some citizens to uphold unity and freedom heritage.

Tax Deadline April 30 for Clermont County taxpayers

Arnold Stumpf acting auditor reminds residents that April 30 is the final filing date for Personal Property and Tangible taxes with penalties after the deadline. Auditor's office hours extend to noon on Saturday April 29. In Amelia the Rosary Altar Society will host an Italian spaghetti dinner April 30 from 1 to 8 pm at St. Bernadette cafeteria Locust Lake Rd.
