GOP Sets Meeting To Name Metzger Successor
Clermont County Republican Central Committee will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the OG&E auditorium Batavia to choose a successor to County Auditor H Earl Metzger who died Saturday. James Walker says about 10 members will attend with a majority required. Arnold Stumpf serves as acting auditor after appointment by county commissioners. Metzger had begun a second four year term and would have faced the 1968 general election.

County Loses Two Leaders With Metzger and Dr Greene
The county mourns as two long time leaders die within days of each other. Harry Earl Metzger former New Richmond resident and county auditor died Saturday at Jewish Hospital Cincinnati after a month long illness. Dr. Greene died at his home while discussing a patient with his wife last Tuesday night. Metzger’s term had just begun and he championed weights and measures along with deficit reduction. Dr. Greene was active in hospital movement and health initiatives and served as president of the Ohio State Medical Historical Society. Surviving relatives include wives, children, and grandchildren in multiple states.

Bethel Driver Fined and Suspended After Four Citations
Harold C. Sentman, 19, of Bethel, received four traffic citations in under three hours from Ohio State Highway Patrol last week. Fines totaled 140 dollars plus costs, and he was suspended from driving for one year in Clermont County Court. The run included speeding 92 mph in a 60 mph zone and reckless operation near Brame Club.

Miss Clermont County Pageant Set for April 30 at Bethel High
The Miss Clermont County Pageant, affiliated with the national Miss American Contest, will be held Sunday April 30 at 3 p.m. in the Bethel High School gym with nine county contenders. Finalists advance to the Miss Ohio Valley title event May 13 in Ripley, then to Miss Ohio Pageant at Cedar Point in July and Tobacco Princess finals in Richmond, Virginia. The program includes 150 theatre performers from the Ripley Theatre Guild and performances from Hello Dolly and South Pacific. Doors open 2:30 p.m. for ticket sales.
