Pomona Grange Holds April Meeting at Marathon
The County Pomona Grange met in Marathon on April 23 with a large turnout. Morning sessions covered topics including a county Grange contest that could bring the State Grange to perform the Sixth Degree locally in October. The day featured a dinner, lecture hour, and programs by Marathon Grange, Mabel Boyd, Snell Brothers, Earl Shafer, Homer Johnson, Geo Bethymer, and the Marathon band. The next gathering is planned for Williamsburg in July.

Moonshine Run Ends In Wreck Near Owensville
Early Friday at 2 am a Buick carrying moonshine milk cans collided with a telephone pole in Owensville. The passenger was taken to the city hospital for injuries while bystanders moved the cargo out of the county. No details on origin or destination are known.

Thomas P. White Dies at 90 in New Richmond
Thomas P. White, a Civil War veteran and longtime county undertaker with 68 years in service, died at his New Richmond home Monday at 2p.m. at age 90 after a long illness. He buried about 9000 people and served as county treasurer from 1886 to 1888. Surviving are his widow, three sons Lou, Cliff and John, and two daughters Mrs. Eva Roberts and Mrs. Jeanette Hall. Funeral Thursday at 2:30 with body in state at White funeral home 10 to 2. Rev. Hartman in charge.
