Court of Appeals orders new trial for Robert Gregor in the 1920s Ohio first degree murder case of Ed Wood. The ruling finds reasonable doubt in the guilt, critiques admission of prior threats, and remands to Clermont county for proceedings. Also notes Lt. Ralph D. McAfee sailing to China and family relocation details.

Peter Ballinger of the State Highway Department reports lanterns used for danger signals on the pike have been stolen. The lanterns bear state marks and if found will be prosecuted. A wheelbarrow was also taken. The public urged to avoid removing signals and to keep roads safe.
Pringle and Buerkle progress on the Owensville pike placing a stone barrier from Bata via to the other end. Stones from Backbone crushed on site to form the roadway for a safe middle section. The road will link the county seat to the north. Davis hill bed is poor. A new Olive Branch to Grant Highway route is planned as an easier travel path.
The Owensville Alumni gathering is set for next Saturday at the auditorium with a ready program. A committee has prepared speeches notices and a generous spread while former pupils and acceptances from many will attend. Washington reports the Veterans' Bureau may loan on bonus certificates from an $8 million fund using life insurance returns, regardless of Comptroller General McCarl ruling.
The court must decide on the manslaughter verdict and whether the defendant acted to protect his father. Additional trials threaten taxpayer costs and doubt a conviction under appellate law. A venue change would be costly, and the case may return for trial or move to a higher court according to Hd.
Under guidance of Ex Chief Justice H L Nichols the Grant Memorial bridge at Pt Pleasant is slated for early September dedication with possible attendance by President Coolidge during his vacation. Nichols plans to erect a duplicate Grant cabin on the Columbus Fair Grounds site, using $4000 remaining from 1922 funds, and a measurement trip to Columbus will be made by C S Slade of Batavia. A public park may be developed on adjoining ground to serve auto tourists on the A and P Highway along the Ohio River.
Thomas Glancy longtime Batavia resident and meat dealer dies after a short illness. A prominent Mason, he served as a councilman and on the Board of Public Affairs. Survived by a widow three daughters a brother and several sisters. Funeral Tuesday at 2 PM with Masonic order in charge.
Clayton B. Nichols longtime Batavia resident and Clermont county bar member dies at home after a short illness. He served as secretary and attorney for Batavia Building & Loan, was a prominent Odd Fellow, and led Sunday school for 15 years. Survived by widow and five children with funeral services at Batavia church. Andy J. Thompson, 80, dies at his daughter’s home after brief Bright's disease. He leaves six children. funeral planned from the home followed by burial in Bevistown.
After eleven months under construction the new U B church near Dayton is nearly complete with pews and flooring to be finished this week. The 400 seat auditorium features Easter Moon The Good Shepherd and Gethsemane windows by a top artist. Bishop A R Clippinger to dedicate on May 1 with a record crowd expected and dinners planned for up to a thousand.
Commissioners scheduled the 1927 Field and Track Meet for April 23 at the Owensville Fair Grounds. Boys and girls events listed with weights and limits. entries due by April 21. Clermont county holds its annual 4H clothing leaders meeting at the Court House in Batavia on Friday April 22 at 2 p m. All clothing club leaders members and others interested in this worthwhile instruction for girls are invited. A state clothing specialist will attend to discuss clothing work and help solve leaders problems.
At the annual convention in Batavia on April 5 the Clermont County Council of Religious Education decided to hold the next meeting at Miamiville in the latter part of May. Due notice will be given.
Miss Rahama Elizabeth Brown wed Hermon Edwin Fagley at the Bethel home of the Gibbits Brown on West Street. The ceremony featured Cathy Smith of Columbus singing Until and Lohengrin's march. Rev Lippert officiated as about fifty relatives witnessed the ring ceremony. The couple, after a wedding tour to the South, are greeted by family rooted in Tate township.
The Batavia M. E. Sunday school reports rising membership and aims for 300 by Easter. Last Sunday week 247 attended as a bright service with a six piece orchestra, special music, and new members. Harold Gunderley received a Bible from Mrs. Gertrude Spencer for perfect attendance over three and a half years.
The Georgetown village council decided to install a water system costing about 70 594 dollars. The town, long hit by fires, expects to cut insurance by 6000 dollars. Water will come from wells with 100000 gallon storage tanks and direct pressure in emergencies. Drilling starts at once. Peebles will add a web system this summer after heavy fire losses.
