Thomas Clancy appointed Superintendent of Maintenance for the State Highway Department in Clermont County. He succeeds Lester Simmons. Clancy has 20 years with the department and is a Milford lifelong resident. Simmons becomes Superintendent of the County Highway Department, succeeding Homer Remley, now County Commissioner.

Military notices report Pfc Merrill J. Pattison of Route 5 Batavia Ohio died in Italy April 7 from wounds after 22 days overseas. Also listed are Corp Frank C Weber in Iran April 14, Lt Katherine Linke in France, Pvt Robert Setty Jr furlough in Milford, Corp William Kinman in Belgium, and Capt Albert Ciardello returning to Milford. Clermont County salutes the Patchell family as five brothers serve in World War II. Jack, Ralph, Galvin, Edward, and Robert Patchell hold Purple Hearts, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Crosses, and numerous Oak Leaf Clusters. Jack is home with heavy wounds and awaiting plastic surgery. Ralph is a P-47 Thunderbolt pilot awaiting captaincy after 82 combat missions. Galvin in Alexandria Egypt awaiting travel orders. Edward serves in the Navy in the Philippines. Robert set to enter Navy May 2.
