A state committee completed its probe of Ohio milk and issued recommendations to regulate the industry. It proposes a three member Ohio Milk Control Commission with producer, distributor, and consumer roles, appointed for two-year terms starting July 1, 1935, with at least a $4,000 annual salary and full-time duties.
Miss Helen Gallagher 22 recreational director for F E R A schools in Clermont County was severely injured when her auto skidded off Route 74 two miles west of Batavia crashed into a tree. She suffered a compound leg fracture and severe bruises. taken to Bethesda Hospital Cincinnati and later reported out of danger.
Mrs R L Thomas missionary and traveler will speak at the morning service at Batavia M E Church in Batavia on Sunday April 28. A cordial invitation is extended to the public.
Baptisms took place Sunday morning at Batavia Memorial Evangelical Church. Infants baptized include Mary Ann Mesch, Jane Mills Barbeau, Theodore Alison Budd, Georgia May, Jennie, Ralph and Roland Murphy. Also Childrey Elinor Virginia Dominy Grace Elizabeth Dolak Lyndal Hughes Charlotte Himes Ruth Perry. Adults baptized were Mrs Margaret Dominy and Mrs Mildred Budd.
The Batavia Presbyterian Church reports new members admitted on Friday night April 19 1935 including Dr. and Mrs. Claude B Smith Miss Ruth Wiggins Mrs Jack Jamieson Richard Jamieson Warren Wilke Allen Taylor Nichols and Hugh L Nichols II After the reception the Lord's Supper was observed Easter Sunday baptized children William Franklin and Joseph Shannon Jenike James Nelson son of Mr and Mrs Robert Caldwell Ruth Ann daughter of Dr and Mrs Claude B Smith Patricia Aon daughter of Mr and Mrs Finley Herrig James Byron son of Mr and Mrs Byron Barbeau and Thomas Smith Nichols son of Mr and Mrs Hugh C Nichols The Barbeau Jenike Jamieson and Nichols children represent the fourth generation affiliated with the church.
Members of the Clermont County Young Republican Club held a dinner dance at Amelia high school last Thursday night with speakers State Representative John Hayden and State Senator Harold Nichols and former prosecuting attorney Forrest Ely. The Hand in Hand class of Amelia Baptist church served the dinner and Mickey Friend's orchestra provided music. Executive committee nominees for the year include John Owens New Richmond president Forrest Ely Batavia vice president C E Phillips Moscow secretary and John Dalchow Mt. Carmel treasurer.
Carl Rush appointed deputy surveyor by County Surveyor Arche Holland to prepare projects for the Federal Works Relief Administration pork barrel program. County Commissioners added $600 for the surveyor to fund this work. Clermont expected to gain from the new works relief if suitable projects are submitted promptly. Rush, a Bethel resident, is a known engineer in the region and at Columbus.
The Cincinnati Commandery Knights Templar presents a Sunday May 5 concert at 3 p m for the Clermont County Home, weather permitting outside or indoors. Associate conductor P F Jamieson leads eight Clermont residents many of whom are professional musicians, including Jamieson Wasner Nash Slade Nichols Hamilton Homan Stevens Needham.
The state highway department will repaint the U S route 2850 bridge at Milford during the coming summer after Rep John Hay den of Felicity secured firm assurance from highway officials that renovation is contemplated.
A new firm, Clermont Construction Company, will replace Pringle Construction Company with headquarters in Batavia. Officers are Charles J. Whitmer president, Homer Remley vice president, and Harold Nichols secretary treasurer. Whitmer and Remley have notable county and Brown county ties.

Amelia seniors schedule a three act play The Go Getter on April 24 at 8 pm with 25 cent admission. Commencement exercises follow on April 26 at 8 pm with Rev H O Folger delivering the address. Alumni Banquet on April 27 at 8 pm features dancing and music by The McCullum Revelers. 75 cents per plate.
The program for a general meeting of school board members is set for April 27 1936 at 1 30 pm in the Batavia School Auditorium. Attendees include Joseph W Fichter Assistant Director of Education and Dick Smith Brown County Superintendent of Schools. Round table topics cover consolidation transportation finances and the length of the next school year with potential additional topics. E H Pattison serves as chairman.

An examination for case workers under the FERA will be held at Batavia public school Saturday afternoon April 27 starting at 2 20 p m County Relief Administrator Fred Croswell announced. The exam is open to residents of Clermont county with high school education ages 25 to 50 inclusive. All present case workers will be required to take the test.
The Courier Comment argues governance faces risk from large relief spending while jobs hang in the balance. It notes talk of candidates, including Rep. John Hayden of Clermont County, eyeing the Republican lieutenant governor nomination as the May 1936 primary nears.

James P. Ashburn of Batavia earned special mention for his work as an agent with Sun Life Assurance Co of Canada. During February and March he achieved the highest grade of honors possible for agents by being named to the company’s Special Honor Roll for leading agents.

Wheat growers vote nationwide on May 2 to decide the AAA wheat contract for next year. The current contract ends with this crop year. County agent E B Baugh notes the new proposals mirror the first program with added incentives to shift land in drought and dust storm areas from wheat to grass.
The Williamsburg Future Farmers of America Chapter has submitted an early entry for the Ohio State Junior State Fair in Columbus, August 26 to 31. Under C. E. Murphy, the class will bring a 200 square foot Farm Shop exhibit of farm, household and shop items crafted during 1934 35 to compete for premiums against other Ohio entries.
The Modern Cooks Club met April 11 at the school house with 14 total members.
