Batavia schools held closing exercises last week with a class play and a crowded audience. Miss Henrietta White was ill and replaced by Nellie Belle Roye. Commencement Friday night at the town hall featured a long program with addresses by Geraldine Wasner and Mary Katherine Bauer, special awards, and diplomas.

Former Batavian Woman Dies in Indianapolis
Mrs. Susie Moore Warren, widow of Harold C. Warren and formerly of Batavia, died at her Indianapolis home on April 24 and was buried in Ligonier cemetery after services. She was a daughter of the late Gece P. Moore, left Batavia in 1901, and was an active club woman. Survived by her husband a son and a stepmother. Senior Class dance at the armory Friday night after commencement, with Mickie Friend's Orchestra.

Clermont County Horse Theft Case Ends With Two Arrests
The first Clermont County horse theft case in nearly 30 years ended with two arrests. Norman Henry, 19, of Bradford Canada, pleaded guilty and was bound to the grand jury on 2500 bond. John Snead, 22, of Cincinnati, pleaded not guilty and was held to the grand jury on 2500 bond. The horse stolen from E W Patchell farm April 20 was found April 24 at Robert Wright’s farm in Price Hill after Wright bought it for 12 50 at a sale. Deputies say Wright learned of the theft from a Cincinnati paper and returned the horse with Patchell. Henry and Snead were arrested at Front and Central Avenues in Cincinnati.

George Frederic Keller born January 1 1871 died April 26 1985 aged 64 years 3 months 15 days. Married to Fannie Viers October 15 1910. He lived in Williamsburg for over 40 years and in their present home 26 years. Known for kindness charity and quiet faith in God. He worked with the N and W railroad construction gang and was highly respected by those men. His wife Fannie will be desolate and neighbors recall his protective care and Christlike life. He trusted the Comforter and spoke of joining loved ones, with reflections on faith and a final rest in Paradise. A D S

County Educators Hold Large County Board Meeting
A county wide meeting of boards of education was held at Batavia High School last Saturday afternoon with about 140 members present. County Superintendent Dick Smith spoke on school finances and consolidation, noting most one room schools in Brown County have disappeared. Joseph W. Fichter outlined the foundation school program and potential state aid equalization, including five mill local levies and the effect on districts. Round table discussions followed and attendees deemed the gathering worthwhile.
