The Batavia township field meet drew 400 spectators at Whiteraker school ground amid ideal weather. Forest Hill School won the first pennant with 44 points while Whitaker took second. Olive Branch claimed third. A post event baseball game Foresthill vs Whitaker ended 19 to 6 in favor of Whitaker.

Goshen Boy Wins County Championship Game at Batavia
In Batavia's Court House Yard last Saturday a county championship boys game drew a large crowd. Five contestants from Goshen Amelia Neville Bethel and others competed under 14. Honas Hugo of Batavia and Ken Dietz of Goshen reached the final. Dietz defeated Hugo 26 to 13 to win Clermont county title and advance to county matches against Warren and Butler. A silver cup was awarded to the winner by David Roberts and a Cincinnati Post representative.

Plans for a dog racing track in Fairfield near Xenia are ready with construction to start within ten days. The Fairfield Amusement Park, Inc. will run two annual meets under a prize system to reduce wagering. Clinton County officials led by County Auditor Harry Gaskill have reduced farm land valuation by 20 percent after a survey found values overstated. Last Friday a cigarette stub set a waste basket on fire in Judge Davis office. RE C Ely witnessed flames from the open door and extinguished them after burning his hand briefly. He warned that a metal container could have saved the new Bank building from possible ruin. Smoking is described as a widespread fad among all ages.
Batavia High School Announces Commencement Program
The Batavia High School commencement will be held at Town Hall tonight.
