Batavia High to Stage Honor Bright in Town Hall Play

Batavia High School graduates present the class play Honor Bright at the town hall with Batavia Concert Band providing music. The three act comedy features a large cast including James Gregg, Harold Anstaett, Nellie Lewis, Ruth Violet, and Marvin McGuire among others as the senior week events unfold with a Baccalaureate sermon and Commencement activities scheduled through May 10.

Missionary Leader to Speak at Batavia Church

Lady Speaker Mrs R H Thomas of Walnut Hills Cincinnati and secretary of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society will address the Batavia M E Church next Sunday at 10 30 am. She has traveled widely and will deliver a strong talk. The public is invited. She is mother of Mrs C R Colburn of Batavia.

Batavia Woman's Club Dedicates Nine-Foot Spruce in Court Yard

A nine-foot Norway spruce was planted in the courthouse yard by Batavia Woman's Club to honor charter members Mrs. P Jamieson Mrs. Cora Griffith and Miss Lou Baum. The tree, obtained from Ellis Guynn of Glen Este, should grow over a foot annually and serve as a living memory during Christmas services.

Corner Stone Laying For New Parish School In New Richmond

The corner stone was laid last Sunday for a new parochial school at New Richmond officiated by Archbishop John T. McNicholas. Architects Crowe & Schulte designed a colonial brick building with tile copper roof and large auditorium. Construction by Robert Harig Construction Company proceeds toward a September 1 occupancy. Also noted is the death of Mrs. Camile Robinson of Owensville, buried Milford April 15.

Minister Passes After 43 Years in Ministry

Rev. John Frederick Schwab, 71, retired United Brethren preacher, died at home after several years of ill health. He served active ministry 43 years, lived with his wife in Batavia, and was the son of Frederick Schwab a charter Ohio German Conference member. Funeral held at U B Church with body viewing, then burial in Batavia.

Birthday Party At Mrs McCoy Home Honors Marie McCoy

The McCoy country home near Monterey hosted a birthday party for Marie McCoy on April six. Guests from Monterey Owensville Wilmington Hillsboro and Amelia attended with gifts and a pink white color scheme. A bouquet announced Marie’s engagement to Herbert Broomball of Hillsboro. Fountain at courthouse open to all for public use
