Batavian Resident Mrs Jane Tice Dies at 82
Mrs. Jane Tice widow of the late Williams Tice died at her East Batavia home on Thursday at age 82 after injuries from a fall weeks earlier. She and her family lived in Batavia for over 50 years and built the home where she passed. Survived by daughter Mrs. B O Weaver and sister Mrs. Ida Varley. Funeral from the home Saturday with burial in Union Cemetery. Bargain prices on used stoves and oil line stoves advertised. Read it in The Courter first.

Mt Holly tops Whitaker in township field and track meet
The Batavia township field and track meet at Whitaker's school grounds drew 500 spectators in fine weather. Mt Holly won with 30 points, Whitaker 23, Forest Hill 21, and Elmwood plus Greenbriar zero to nine in several schools’ showing.

Land Mark Razed for Modern Stone House in Batavia
The oldest Batavia landmark, former home of Judge Lee, has been razed to clear the site for a new modern stone residence built by H. J. King. Lou Maiott bought the old house and moved it to Bethel for cottage construction. The Lee yard, once a famed North street garden, reflected Mrs. Le e’s love of flowers and conversation. George Lee of Carrollton, Kentucky, is the sole surviving Lee family member.

Car Overbank Incident Near Batavia Injures Driver
Eddy Male of Moorefield above Batavia lost control Sunday night and went over a bank near O Maley s Inn. The coupe stayed on its wheels while Eddy was thrown out but not seriously hurt. A wrecker pulled the car to safety and he went on to town unscathed.

Burley Tobacco Acreage Could Drive 1930 Prices
The Outlook states growers plan about 15 percent more Burley planting than 1929.
