Village Officials Plan May Clean-Up Campaign

Mayor Arch Wrigglesworth of NEW RICHMOND designated May 15 as Citizen's Clean-up Campaign Week and said ordinances will be enforced. A proclamation requires landowners to clean and drainage to be improved, and later a sanitary inspection of all property will be reported to the village council by June 1. Noncompliance gives residents 10 days to act, after which the village may perform the work and place a lien on the land to recover costs.

Woman Motorist Hurt In Crash Near Goshen

Evelyn H. Mattox, 36, of Rt. 1 Goshen, was taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital with a back injury and concussion after her car struck a utility pole and fence on Route 132 near here. Deputy Earl Moore reported the BMOP Life Squad crew transported her Monday night.

Utility Promotes Man To New Post

Carl L. Sontag of Loveland was named Milford district commercial office manager for The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. George H. Day announced the promotion this week. Sontag joined CG&E in 1950 as a Milford district office typist and rose through roles including sub meter reader and meter reader before taking the Loveland commercial manager post in October 1957. He lives on Clough Pike Rt. 1 Batavia and is married with three children.

Free Chest X-Rays Offered to Anderson Newtown Residents

Free chest X rays will be offered to residents 18 and over on Thursday April 28 and Friday April 29. The Anti Tuberculosis League mobile truck will be at Anderson High School 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on April 28 and at 6841 Main St Newton on April 29 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The program, in cooperation with Anderson Unit 318 American Legion Auxiliary, aims to find new TB cases and screen for other chest conditions. No disrobing is needed and reports are mailed to homes. Volunteers include Mrs. Clarion Cunningham Mrs John Biddle Mrs Walter Dmytryk and Mrs Thelma Morgan R N.

Milford chamber and village officials pressed by George Washington Highway Association to conduct an immediate traffic study to relieve congestion on the narrow US Route 50 bridge. Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Bennett marked her 98th birthday at her New Richland home. Born April 8, 1862 in Alexandria Kentucky, she is the mother of 14 with five living, 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Clermont County Seeks Bids for Court House Expansion

Clermont County courth ouse expansion bids lag with only six of nine divisions receiving offers by the Friday deadline. The $130 000 estimate appears insufficient as the lowest bids total $84 854 and no bids came for costly masonry carpentry and roofing work. Trailer Owners Must Conform to Zoning Rules

Union Township zoning inspector Fred Romohr told trailer owners in the township that they must obtain non conformance certificates by November 5, 1960 or move trailers out. Only one trailer park meets rules, located on the lake property between Willowville and Glen Este. Incoming trailers must notify Romohr within 48 hours of arrival and during occupancy, and cannot be used as living quarters until compliant.

Williamsburg School Job Vacancy Persists

Williamsburg: The position of executive head of the school system remains open after A W Kettlewell declined the post by telephone to the Williamsburg board of education. He had been expected to fill the vacancy created by A R Durose who will leave at term end. The board will continue interviewing applicants to secure the best qualified candidate.

Batavia post office personnel will occupy new quarters in the municipal building Saturday April 30 and open for business Monday morning May 2 Postmaster Arthur Hill says dedication ceremonies will be held at 2 PM Sunday May 22 with details to be announced later.

Business Group Backs N and W Flasher at Clough Pike Crossing

The Batavia Business Men's Association endorsed county plans to have the Norfolk and Western Railway install a flasher signal at the Clough Pike crossing. A letter will be sent to railway officials requesting action to improve crossing safety. Members invited to May 4 meeting at Beckford power station to hear an industrial development expert. The group also voted to start a promotion and public relations program with news coverage this week. Featured is an offer to redeem odd currency for more than its face value.
