Owensville Seeks $100000 Loan from Cincinnati Fund

Ma or Robert T. Hyde of Owensville asks Cincinnati to lend Owensville $100,000 from its capital improvements fund. The loan would finance a $251,000 sewer system project and be repaid from village residents income taxes, with the city stating it would incur no cost and could be repaid over a normal period.

Batavian Named To OSU Institute Staff

Robert K. Slade of Batavia will join the National Defense Education Counseling and Guidance Institute staff at Ohio State University this summer from June 20 to August 12. Dr. Herman J. Peters will direct. Slade holds a master of education from the University of Cincinnati and has served as a civil service examiner and teacher in Hamilton and Clermont counties.

Five Held On Car Theft Charges

David Linkenauger, 38, of 2444 Eastern Ave., Knox County jail in Tennessee, charged with interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle. He admitted stealing a 1960 Chevrolet on March 31 from Batavia, and a 1959 Chevrolet on March 21 in Salisbury, Maryland. Hugo Cody, 24, was arrested April 6 near Anti-Bantam Rd. fingerprint match linked him to a car later found with Cody and three Afton brothers Robert 21, Ronald 23, and Kenneth Wedmore 19, all charged with receiving stolen property and to appear before Judge Rosenhofer on April 18.

County commissioners authorized Carl Rush to correct a drainage problem at Mt. Holly Road and Route 125 in Batavia township. Residents on Ivy Road asked for a dump truck to haul gravel. officials promised aid if detailed the needed materials.

Thompson Resignation Sought By County Board of Education

The county board of education urged Thompson to resign as county superintendent citing laxness in using the state foundation program. The board rejected a lower post swap for higher pay and may consider a pay raise for Thompson by May 9. It approved raising L G Hause to 9500 and redesignating him general supervisor to oversee other apointees.

Deputy Injured In Train Car Crash At Batavia Crossing

Deputy Chatterton, 34, of Amelia, was struck by westbound freight No. 77 at the Clough Pike crossing near Batavia at 6 55 am Tuesday. He was treated at the scene and taken to Christ Hospital in serious condition. Local officials said the crossing is dangerous and County Commissioner Ansteadt vows action to fix it.

Owensville appoints Joe DeCamp as clerk treasurer succeeding Ernie Havrilla who resigned in March.
