They rushed to catch a train, found the daughter safe, and learned no such message existed. Authorities have no clue about the prankster, and a similar incident occurred nearby previously.

Sheriff Williams went to Indiana to extradite Henry Shied held on charges from a Clermont grand jury indictment for grand larceny in 1914. Shied, once prospering in New Richmond 1907–11, shipped woolen mill machinery to Cincinnati then allegedly sold it for a Cincinnati firm. He pled not guilty, posted a $1000 bond he could not meet, and was jailed.

John Zurmuhle Sr. Dies at 90 in Batavia Home
John Zurmuhle Sr. longtime Batavia resident and boot maker died Saturday night at age ninety after months of illness. Born October 17 1824 in Switzerland he emigrated to New York in 1849 and settled in Batavia in 1850 joining the Odd Fellows in 1854 and becoming its oldest member in the district. Survived by four children Callie Clara John Jr and Mrs Chas Sprinz funeral services Tuesday at the Presbyterian church with I O O F in charge.
