Day Heights Pharmacy Opens Hospital Supply Center

A new 1000 square foot hospital supply center opens at Day Heights Pharmacy east of Milford on Highway 131. Wilbur A. Haines directs the center which offers rent and sale of beds, wheelchairs, walkers, and rehab equipment. Charles Mueller, owner, notes Medicare and welfare handling and an emphasis on service quality.

Massey To Talk On Bond Plan In Clermont County

State Representative William H. Mussey will address Clermont Republicans on April 13 at the DX Ranch near Amelia about the Ohio Bond Commission Amendment and its voter implications. A question period will follow. Russell Simmons, Clermont County State superintendent, was to undergo surgery and may be absent about three weeks.

Goshen Students Win Music Awards At Miami University

Three Goshen High School students earned honors at the Spring competition with Donna Bingham receiving a Class B rating on clarinet, Larry Metcalf a Class B rating on baritone, and William Shepherd a Class A rating on tuba who also won a music scholarship to support his college education. In local tax news Bethel Tate School district approved a 7 mill operating levy by a 1271 to 531 vote despite Brown County opposition. Tate Township E and F and Franklin Township A and Washington Township A totals shown with Brown County and others.

County Seeks Public Health Service Input on Landfill Plan

Clermont County officials and township representatives asked the U S Public Health Service for guidance as a sanitary landfill option was discussed to replace or supplement current waste disposal. Health service experts cited engineered landfills as cost effective with per ton estimates far lower than proposed incineration. If approved, officials promised a follow up visit to outline setup and operation steps.

Batavia weighs hiring a third patrolman for village

The Batavia village council may hire a third full time patrolman as safety committee prepares to review applicants. Police Chief Colonel is recovering and Lt. Good and part time help handle duties. A $5000 minimum salary plus Blue Cross Blue Shield benefits are planned.

West Clermont Music Festival at Amelia and Glen Este

Amelia and Glen Este High Schools combine for the West Clermont Music Festival on April 13 at Amelia and April 14 at Glen Este under guest conductors Gene Deaton and James Beane from Morehead State University. Curtain is 8 p.m. Donations are 1 for adults .50 for students and 2.50 per family. A music clinic follows at Amelia High School on April 15 from 10 to 12 with lunch for 1.50.

Firey Crash Injures Two on Rt 125 at Wolfer Dr

State Patrolman Keeley investigates a two car crash at 12 40 a m on Rt 125 west of here. James Baker 54 of 78 Wolfer Dr turned left into Wolfer Jr and was struck by Michael Gruber 20 of Rt 1 Bethel. The Baker car burned and both drivers were taken to Brown County Hospital by BMOP Life Squad.

Glen Este Senior Wins Ford Scholarship

Kenneth P. Moppin of Glen Este High School is among 18 Ohio youths awarded four year Ford Motor Company Fund college scholarships. Winners were chosen from 1500 applicants by nine educators. Moppin, son of Charles E. Moppin of 4604 Rumpke Rd, plans engineering and is active in National Honor Society, football, wrestling, and student government.

Tarvin Earns Uruguay Trip From Eastern State

Bob Tarvin of Eastern Kentucky State University earns a two month Experiments in International Living assignment to Uruguay this summer. He will spend a month with a Uruguayan host family and another month touring the country. Tarvin, a 1964 Williamsburg HS graduate and junior with a 3.82 GPA, previously starred as an OVC football lineman but recently stopped playing due to a blood clotting disease. He was chosen from four nominees by a committee of faculty staff and students. he is the son of Mr and Mrs Irvin Tarvin of Batavia. Open House and PTA meeting at Batavia Elementary and Junior High are set for Thursday April 13. Larry Vaughn will present Art in Our Schools with officer elections and attendance awards.
