Foster Parents Meet April 25 in Clermont County

Foster parents of Clermont county will gather in the Court House Conference Room at 1 30 P M Thursday April 25. Miss Frances Reese executive secretary of the Clermont County Child Welfare Board says Dr Jack Hertzman Cincinnati based psychiatrist at the Child Guidance Home will speak on child guidance. All foster parents both men and women are urged to attend.

Clermont County Baseball League Plans Second 1940 Meeting

The Clermont County Baseball League schedules its second meeting of the year for Friday April 19 1940 at 8:00 P M in the county courthouse. Towns showing interest include Buford Winchester Newtonsville Mt. Carmel New Richmond Williamsburg Batavia Loveland Goshen Lynchburg and more. Officers elected last week were Taxon Briggs of Williamsburg president and Herbert Hogberg of Batavia secretary for 1940.

Civic Association Dance at Williamsville-Tabasco School

Club Guest Taft Speaks to Ro Tarians

Charles P. Taft of Cincinnati served as the club guest and speaker for the Ro tarians event. Last week the club elected officers with W. Hensey Howland as president, Hugh Nichols as vice president, J. A. Carter as secretary, and A. C. Nash as treasurer, with J. P. Friend Jr and others named as members.

Masons Meet at Batavian Lodge with 78 Members Present

The Batavian Masonic lodge held a regular session Saturday night with 78 members present. Grand Master Clyde B. Cox and Earl B. Kincaid attended. Geo. Nash was the candidate. Refreshments followed and Nash will receive the Second Degree next Friday night.

Clermont County Republican Council to Meet in Goshen

The last Clermont county Republican Council meeting before the May primary will be held Thursday evening May 2 at Goshen. Earl Eastwood, the Chairman, says the dinner meeting will feature a lineup of able speakers and all Republicans are urged to attend.

Batavia Educators Join Ohio Curriculum Study Conference

School administrators and teachers from Batavia High School joined colleagues in Columbus for the Ohio High School Curriculum Study. The group, including Dr. Wilford M. Aikin, discussed revising aims and curricula to strengthen youth development and democratic education, with Batavia revaluing its objectives and planning curriculum revision.

Third Annual Spring Concert At Amelia

Superintendent W. J. Tabscott announced the Third Annual Spring Concert for Amelia on Wednesday evening April 24. About 300 pupils from the school system will participate in choral groups solos specialties and in the band and orchestra. Rilla Mae Tayloo and Jean Gibson will perform a tap routine with the High School Mixed Chorus providing the music. Rita Kennedy will present a new tap routine.

Grand Jury Indicts Eight in Clermont County Session

The April term grand jury reported seven true bills and one continued case after two days of hearings. Indicted individuals include Maurice Henderson and Howard P Altman for improper car tags, J Frederick Kruthaup for reckless driving, Frank Turner for cutting with intent, Homer Glenroy Morgan for reckless driving and DUI, Richard Brooks for cutting with intent, Irwin Rhoades for concealing stolen auto parts, and Elmer Kennedy for intoxicated driving. Foreman Glenn Leach led a 14-member panel. several members were drafted in Batavia.

Tax Collection Half-Year Totals For Clermont County

The county released a half year tax analysis showing total collections of $204 526 29 led by $170 211 53 current taxes and $28 330 97 old delinquencies. Current year delinquency fell from $116 702 47 to $108 560 62 with 8 5 percent of 1988 taxes remaining delinquent.

County to pursue food stamp plan for Clermont surplus aid

County Commissioners adopted a resolution to seek USDA approval to run a Food Stamp Plan in Clermont County. If approved, surplus commodities will be distributed through neighborhood groceries, replacing a separate storeroom system. Eligible recipients include general relief and aid groups, with participation voluntary and a minimum purchase requirement for cash assistance cases.
