Ohio Highways awards resurfacing contracts in Clermont and Monroe townships
The Ohio Department of Highways awarded several resurfacing projects totaling nearly $700,000. Clermont County U.S. 52 Ohio River road in Ohio and Monroe townships will be resurfaced with asphaltic concrete. Contract sold to Brewer & Brewer Sons Inc Chillicothe for $46,120. Length 8.329 miles. Completion set for July 31 with estimated cost $46,300.

Navy Seeks Women Recruits in Batavia Visit

Panel Formed to Enforce Price Ceilings in Clermont District
The Clermont Ration Board named a panel headed by Common Pleas Judge Charles G White to hear complaints of price ceiling violations and ensure observance. Henry Rau Passes at 72 Longtime Batavia Resident
Henry Rau age 72 died Sunday afternoon at Christ Hospital east of Batavia. A lifelong farmer he was well known in the area. Survived by wife Louella nee Bauer, daughter Lucille Mosbacher, sister Emma Hulick, and brothers Frank and George Ray. Funeral from United Brethren church Wednesday April 14 at 2:00 conducted by Rev. Jenkins. Interment in Batavia cemetery.

Clermont residents hurt in weekend auto crashes
Several Clermont county residents sustained injuries in vehicle crashes over the weekend. A Route 125 wreck east of the Clermont Hamilton line involved three cars and seven people, six of whom were hospitalized. Edward Colvin of Norwood collided with Fred Aicholtz of Batavia and then struck Arnold Kirk, also of Norwood, with other Kirks and Bascom Farley treated locally. A separate incident on Main Street Cincinnati involved a Bethel driver striking a pedestrian, Harvey Clark. John Needles of Cherry Grove remained in critical condition after his motorcycle collided with a tree. first responders transported him to Bethesda Hospital after providing aid.
