Hundreds Attend Courier-Legion Easter Egg Hunt in Clermont

The Clermont Courier Easter Egg Hunt drew hundreds of children to the Legion grounds on Saturday. About 300 colored eggs were hidden with candy eggs for the youngest, and over 80 prizes were donated by Batavia merchants for the fifth annual event. Local businesses contributed prizes including Foster's Department Store and many others.

Courier Day Celebrations at Coney Island Amusement Park

On Sunday May 15 Courier Day will be observed at Coney Island with reduced price tickets for locals and coupons in next week’s Courier. The park will feature new attractions including the Rotor Ride and a special fireworks display as part of the day’s program.

Batavian Receives Fulbright German Scholarship

Thomas S. Nichols of Batavia has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study at Westphalian State University in Munster Germany He is a senior at Miami University and the first Miami student chosen to study in Germany Dr William Marion Miller chairs the Miami Fulbright screening committee and notes Nichols is the seventeenth Miami student to receive the award.

Motorist In County Jail After Reckless Driving Spree

Robert Lee Carrington of Clough Pike is jailed in Clermont County after five traffic violation charges in three villages. He allegedly sped from three officers at up to 95 mph and was arrested at his home the next day. Charges include reckless driving and resisting arrest in Bethel Williamsburg and Batavia.

Stonelick Church Plans Youth Rally

The Stonelick Baptist Church schedules a youth rally at 7 30 p m Sunday April 17 led by Pastor Rev Paul Gwinn. Goshen high school band will play religious numbers a film on youths problems will be shown and group singing is planned.

Clermont County Commissioner Ernest H. Ruffner Dies at 55

Clermont County Commissioner Ernest H. Ruffner, 55, of Williamsburg died at home Monday. A Republican, he served on the board from 1947 to 1948 and 1952, and ran against Remley in 1948. He owned Ruffner Service Center with his son Ernest II. Funeral services are set for Thursday afternoon at Maham Funeral Home. Surviving are his widow Flora, parents, sister Margaret Chatterton, and brother Arthur of Cleveland.

Child Wanders From Home Found Safe After Search

Thomas Metzger Jr., two and a half, son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Metzger of Hagerman's Crossing on Static Route 74, was missing for over three hours and found at 7 pm unharmed by Hubert Myers and volunteers near Route 4. Deputy Hook notified Sheriff Dericks. search included deputies Lafleur and Hodges, boy scouts and local fire department.

Army Ordnance To Conduct Safety Program April 19

George Lipps and Arthur Rouse will lecture on safety attitudes and show a film titled The Perfect Crime to the Home School and Community Club at Owensville High School at 8 p.m. Tuesday April 19. The campaign aims to promote family safety nationwide under a directive from President Eisenhower. Four Seriously Hurt In Accident On State Route 74

Four Williamsburg women were seriously injured when their car ran off State Route 74 into a ditch, crossed the highway and struck a guard rail. The victims include driver Inez Gardner 45 and passengers Mrs. Stanley Mrs. Robert Minnie and Bonnie McKibben. State Patrolman Frank Gibbong and Police Chief Burt Hodges investigated the crash.
