Owensville First Grade Registration Set

Summer round up for Owensville school first graders will be at the Methodist Church on Monday morning April 16. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Children must be six by September 30. Parents should bring birth certificates. A gentle orientation program with movies and refreshments is planned. Medical reports may be taken but no exam will be given.

House Numbering Out No County Funds For Job

Clermont County commissioners heard a plan to number houses in unincorporated areas but estimated the cost at 10000 dollars and said there are no funds available. Harry Hollerbach proposed the plan. Sheriff Dericks request to buy staff uniforms was postponed. County Engineer Rush to survey Jackson Road Loveland due to eroded edges and a traffic hazard.

Clermont County Baseball League Seeks Eighth Team

The Clermont County Baseball League needs one more team to complete an eight team schedule for 1956. Seven teams have entered with Milford or New Richmond as potential entries, any community may join. Opening games are set for Sunday April 29 and a full schedule will be published soon.

Garden Club installs officers at Owensville meeting

Owensville April meeting of the Garden Club at the Old Boston House opened with a tour of the Krippendorf estate near Perintown where spring flowers like daffodils and hyacinths were in bloom. Officers installed include Cecilia Morris president Christine Campbell vice president Leona Mull recording secretary Mary Carrier corresponding secretary Shirley Davis treasurer. Superintendent Evans offered six bushels of daffodils for a possible high school grounds project. The club plans a May 2 meeting and a field trip to the Grosbeck grounds near Perinton.

Loan Executive Attends U S Savings Conference

John P. H. Brewster secretary of the Milford Building Loan and Saving Co. was among 300 top executives at the United States Savings and Loan League management conference in Washington April 9 11. The event at The Mayflower Hotel covered management techniques and advertising.

County Boosts in Sales Tax Share for Clermont

Clermont is one of two Ohio counties to gain from the new sales tax fund allocation starting July 1. It will receive 4185.99 per month, up from 4146.01, with Adams and others listed for comparison: Brown 2500, Clinton 3937.63, Highland 3295.33, Warren 4750.11.

Baseball Night in Amelia invites local fans to screenings

All county baseball fans are invited to Amelia auditorium next Tuesday April 17 at 7 30 p m for Baseball Night. Stanley Anstaett chairs the Amelia knothole clubs and presents three films Trouble some Plays in Baseball American League Stars and The World Series of 19 ep to educate and entertain. Five Injured In 3 Car Crash At US 52 Intersection

A noon Saturday crash at US 52 and Ohio 222 injured five people across three vehicles. Harold White 23 and Raymond White 21 of Maysville Kentucky were hospitalized in Cincinnati with skull fracture and eye cuts. Eugene Thacker sustained cuts and bruises. Ervin Rolph 40 and wife Letta 35 from Felmingsburg Kentucky had minor injuries. A falling object near 526 Walnut Street injured Gloria Scanlon 18 of Route 1 Newtown last Thursday.

Clermont County Board Transfers Branch Hill to Loveland District

The Clermont County Board of Education voted unanimously to transfer Branch Hill elementary from the local district to the Loveland exempted district. The transfer takes effect 30 days after Loveland accepts, barring protests. Fringe-area residents may join other districts. Aged Aid Payments Reported for Clermont County

The Ohio Department of Public Welfare shows total aid payments of 47,441 dollars in March to 852 in Clermont County. Average payments vary by group, with 830 individuals at 55.54 dollars each under federal participation and 22 people at 60.95 dollars not subject to participation. Forty five received health care totaling 1,492.89 dollars.

Courier Day at Coney Island Returns May 12

Dale Brown recalls coupons from Clermont Courier used on Courier Day last year at Coney Island. The Clermont Courier will sponsor another Courier Day May 12 drawing top crowds as in prior years. Poetry Editor Wins National League Contest Prize

Mrs. Edna Hamilton of The Courier Poets Nook won first prize for her humorous poem Next Door in the National League of American Pen Women biennial poetry contest. The convention was held in Washington, D.C. this week. Hamilton belongs to the Cincinnati branch among 160 branches in Panama, Alaska, Hawaii, the Canal Zone and the U.S.

Patricia Tappe Dies During Brain Tumor Surgery

Miss Patricia Tappe, fifteen year old daughter of Mrs. Horace L. Dodson, of Amelia, died Friday in Good Samaritan Hospital during surgery for a brain tumor. A Amelia High School sophomore, she is survived by her mother and stepfather, two sisters Sheila Tappe and Nancy Dodson, and grandmother Mrs. Minnie Gers. Services were held Tuesday morning at St. Bernadette Church conducted by Father Penning.

New Credit Union To Elect Final Officials Election Soon

The Wilhiamsville-Tabasco area plans a public election of W-T Community Credit Union officials set for Thursday April 19 at the W-T Civic Hall. All adult residents in the district may vote in this first election for Board and Committee members. Only members may share dividends or borrow, but voting is open to eligible residents without requiring deposits. Clergy urge attendance as part of the community cooperative effort.

Polio Vaccine Now Available in Clermont County

The Clermont Board of Health distributed 4 401 units of polio vaccine to county doctors for children aged one to 10 and for expectant mothers. The vaccine is free and doctors may charge a fee. Health Commissioner Charles Kramer urged parents and expectant mothers to contact their physicians to receive shots.

State Board Grants Bethel-Tate Schools 315000 Aid

The State Board of Education reserved 315000 in emergency funds for Bethel Tate schools, acting on the request of R M Eyman. The grant comes from 7 million allowed for needy districts and will supplement bond funds. If approved, Bethel Tate will have about 620000 for improvements including a 16 room elementary addition, science and home economics remodels, and a new heating system.
