The Rev. Murray Titus, a Batavia Ohio native and theologian, is elected principal of Lucknow Christian College in India. Titus, a Missionary with the Methodist Church since 1910, succeeds Dr. Ralph Wellens who resigns due to family illness. He has served as district missionary in Budaun and headed a Boys Middle School, with prior teaching at Lucknow College.

Three projects are active including a Mulberry school addition and a Jackson Township woodworking shop, with Batavia school work to begin once workers are found. Transportation will be provided and labor runs about 70 hours weekly with earnings around 19 dollars monthly.
Federal agents and the Sheriff raided Mrs. Martha Harris home in Bethel a dry town and seized 1 case of quarts 1 case of pints and several cases of beer. Harris was jailed awaiting case procedure in Judge White's Common Pleas Court.
Ohio National Guard members will must register for selective service after three year enlistments and be subject to call. Lt. J. J. Nolan notes current federal service rules limit deferment, as guardsmen have only six months of federal service. Camp Shelby inquiries lean on reenlistment to settle the issue. The state selective service report shows 19,073 trainees and 15,973 classified 1 A, with 441,334 questionnaires sent and 339,191 classified among 852,929 registrants.
The Woman's Society of Christian Service will hold a bake sale in the Sunday school room of the Methodist church on Saturday April 12 at 2 30. Tea will be served and the public is invited.
Draft boards report reclassifying selectees who received deferrals as a result of the selective service program. Board No. 1 sent 880 questionnaires with 771 classified, including 48 in 1-B and 59 in 1-C. 506 in 3-A. 66 inducted, 21 volunteers. Board No. 2 has issued 1,115 questionnaires with classifications pending.
In Judge Orville Halbisch's Probate Court the first quarter licenses issued jumped to 115 this year, more than doubling 1940 first quarter figures and far above 1941. The wartime draft and the National Defense Program boosted employment and buying power, while Kentucky's compulsory physical examination for licenses also impacted the rise.

The coal, feed, and ice yards and all real estate holdings of the late John N. Clark on State Route 126 Milford near the Little Miami bridge will be sold at sheriff's sale on Thursday April 10 at 10 A M in Hamilton County Sheriff’s office Cincinnati Court House. Local residents recall John N. Clark as a Milford pioneer and will attend the sale to watch the estate transfer.

Early Monday morning 60 year old Van Winkle of Bethel slashed wrists and throat in county jail after being lodged on a drunken charge. Sheriff Thomas Brooks says cuts were not fatal but required about twenty stitches. Dr. Van Horn treated him. Van Winkle was on a three year parole for habitual drunkenness and mistreating his family.
Miss Sallie Keen of the Cincinnati Art Academy had one of her pictures chosen for the Exhibition of Cincinnati Artists. The show is currently ongoing at the Art Museum.
Clermont County Council's Parents and Teachers organize a all day Health Institute at Batavia School on Wednesday April 16. Mrs. Genevieve Jessup Taylor of the Cincinnati Social Hygiene Society will address sessions on social hygiene for children and adolescent attitudes with expert guidance from schools and the Economics Department of Batavia High School.
