The East Fork Progressive club gathered March 28 at Mrs Zelphie Chris tie home for guest day with all members and three visitors Miss Mary Hulick from Oxford Miss Alma Innis and brother Homer from Williamsburg attending. The meeting opened with roll call Easter thoughts music readings duets solos dialogue and a closing including refreshments. Contests and games followed with Goldie Hutchinson Harley and pianist Albertine Ireton performing pieces. Next meeting set for April 27 with Mrs Ida Daugherty.
Williamsburg Grange will meet April 6 at 2 p.m. The lecture hour features music by the Grange, readings by Mrs. Cora Smith and Mrs. Ed Miller, piano solo by Velma Kain, plays by Mrs. Walker P. Jordan and Aunt Lucinda Stays, songs by the Grange, and readings by Mrs. Lowell Haworth and Mrs. Bogart.
Ohio Farmers' Institutes widen their field and gain popularity. Applications for state aid institutes in 1918-19 are being prepared. interested parties should contact F. L. Allen at The Ohio State University in Columbus for details and enrollment.
The White Oak Harmony Club held a bazaar on Saturday March 30 at White Oak school house with a fine lunch and large crowd. Receipts were $90.50 with net profit $75 placed in Red Cross fund. These ladies deserve notice for their effort and charity.

Notice from Columbus Ohio urges Ohio farms to apply to the U S Boys Working Reserve for summer help. The program targets boys aged 16 to 21 with farm experience to bolster agricultural production and asks farmers to mail applications to C H Mayhugh at the State House Columbus. Upon receipt, placement instructions will be sent.
H. S. Moore the undertaker answered a call Sunday morning in Union township. While ascending Duckwall hill with John Halbisch at the wheel the auto turned left and attempted to climb the bank, tipping over. One wheel broke, fender bent, radiator leaked, occupants unhurt.
Easter services were held Sunday evening at the M. E. and United Brethren churches with special music by choirs and Sunday school orchestra. The performances by children drew praise for trained routines as large audiences attended at both churches. Special services also took place at the Presbyterian church.
Mrs. Frank C. Apple longtime Batavia resident died at her Ashland home last Thursday after a period of frail health. Funeral was held Sunday at the house with burial Monday at Olive Branch. The Apples were former Olive Branch residents. The husband is left with many condolences.
J. R. Woodlief traveled to Loveland last Thursday due to the serious illness of his sister, Mrs. Nancy S. Behymer, who is past eighty and has suffered illness for some time. The children were summoned to their mother's bedside, arriving on Saturday. She resides with her daughter, Mrs. Mattie Cross. Mr. Woodlief continues in good health and maintains his law practice as before.
Lowell Roudebush the farmers institute lecturer returned from a lecture course through New York last week. He attended many largely attended sessions and drew great interest from audiences in agricultural pursuits. His services are in high demand and he is an authority in his field. His return is eagerly sought wherever he appears.
March this year brought minimal wind and storm activity with mainly fair weather. Rainfall remains well below normal and forecasters anticipate a wetter May based on current trends.
F. W., Calvin D. and L. C. Fridman of New Richmond were released from bankruptcy by a Federal court in Cincinnati after they made assignments following the closing of the New Richmond bank. The Fridmans long operated a furniture manufacturing business specializing in lodge and church furniture.
By April 1 every person, married or single, must file income tax statements. The notice warns a heavy penalty will be imposed on those who fail to list their income.
About 20 members gathered March 22 at Mrs. L. H. Marsh’s home for a program on Household Management and labor saving ideas led by Mrs. J. L. McAfee. Papers by Laura Wacker, Mrs. T. M. Slade, and Mabel Dudley, plus a Chloe Sentman solo, followed by a social hour and a prize won by Mrs. Ella Pullian. New members joined. next meeting April 18 at Mrs. J. L. McAfee.

Mollie Ashburn widow of the late Judge T Q Ashburn died at her Batavia home after a weeks illness in her 88th year. A lifelong resident she lived 62 years in the same house she entered as a bride. She was a devoted M E church member and is survived by two children A S Ashburn and Mrs Elbert Glancy of Dayton. Funeral was from the home with burial in the I O O F cemetery. Relatives and friends mourn her death.
In South Batavia Rev. Wilson conducted a double wedding at Frank Newberry’s home on Sunday evening. The couples were Percy Newberry with Jessie Fleak and Grover Cleveland Fleak with Cecil Newberry.
Eusebia Ann McGuire, born September 21, 185?, daughter of Nathan and Rebecca McGuire, died March 16, 1918 after years of service to church and community. She married W. H. H. Robinson on December 4, 18?, leaving two sons and a daughter. A member of the Red Cross and M. W. Guild, she valued family welfare and resilience.
A Clermont County farmer offered $50 a month to stay through summer but he left for a machine shop job. The note says southern wages compare to $80 in a city, highlighting how labor shortages affect crop plans and costs.

Owensville Grange met on March 28 with Huber discussing soil preparation for corn and substitutes for absent speakers. A Current Event committee was formed, a charade entertained, and Deputy Master Herbert Rowan praised. An April 18 program includes songs, readings, and a spring-themed roll call.
