Wells to be placed in Clermont county by state plan

Dr Colburn and a State Representative toured Clermont county to select sites for four state wells to be operated by the State Highway Department. Planned at Pt Pleasant on the A P highway, Route 74 at Afton, Route 60 near Marathon, and Blowville, with nine more possible if funds permit. Water will be drawn by force pump for public use. Dr Colburn will oversee as county health commissioner.

Miss Snyder Weds Emmet Martin at Moore's Fork Farm

Miss Teresia L Snyder of Owensville and Emmet J Martin of Moore's Fork wed last Wednesday afternoon in a quiet ceremony conducted by Rev L Ludwick. Only the bride's mother and Mrs Ludwick attended. The couple will live on their farm near Blanchester.

Clermont Educator F E Swing Dies at 77

Prof F E Swing longtime Clermont Hamilton county educator and former Clifton principal died after a months illness at his Norwood home. He taught and led schools for 46 years retiring six years ago. Survived by wife Carrie daughter Raymond Tasker son George Swing and nephew Glenn Swing. Funeral at Kennedy Funeral Home Bethel with burial there.

Red Cross Relief Extends After April 16 In Clermont

The Clermont Chapter National Red Cross will stop grocery orders after April 16 and reports ten weeks of relief already provided to 263 families and 1283 people. Each family will receive an extra package of free garden seed via the township committeeman. Farmers may apply for food loans under the Farmers Rehabilitation Bill. inquiries directed to county agents. Annie Tatman met with Mrs. Hedderich in Cincinnati on Thursday.

Small Fire At Kramer Lunch Room Supplies Quick Work

Last Saturday about 11 o clock the fire siren called the fire department to the Kramer lunch room where dinner was being prepared for many guests. A gasoline tank on the cook stove leaked and flames spread but the fire was soon controlled with extinguishers and little damage. The frame building location was risky but insured and no discount on Batavia Fire Company.

Taxpayers Move to Stop Monroe Township Bond Issue

In Clermont County Ohio the Monroe township taxpayers sought to enjoin a 38000 bond issue. The court ruled the Board of Education records and proceedings illegal and barred completing the bond sale. Man Drowns In River Near Moscow. Search Continues

John Bennett Sr. of Moscow, 83, reportedly drowned after being found in the river area. He was last seen near the river on March 5, and authorities have yet to determine a cause or locate additional clues.

Brown County Officials Visit Clermont for Road Project

The Brown County Commissioners met Clermont County Board in Batavia on Monday to review the Searling road lead from Bethel to Locust Ridge toward New Hope. Clermont commissioners agreed to pay 1450 dollars, Tate Township 350, and adjacent property owners 200. Brown County will contribute its share.

Two Wells To Be Drilled For Williamsburg Water

Dr Colburn and a State Board of Health representative chose two drill sites near Williamsburg for the town waterworks. One on Pickelheimer farm east of the creek and the other on Davidson farm west of the creek. About 185 subscribers have signed for water, ensuring installation. Wells likely give hard water versus soft water from the last fork.

Trial Date Set for Brown County Murder Case

Fred Davis, the fourth man charged in the Robert Clemons murder at Kimball's Ford Brown County, will go to trial on Wednesday April 16 Judge Bagby of the Common Pleas Court of Brown County announced. Five Thousand Dollar Verdict in Clermont County Case

A verdict for five thousand dollars was returned in the Common Pleas Court of Clermont County on March 27 against Walter John and Luther Leever of Goshen township in a damage suit arising from an attachment in Goshen township Justice Court in March 1930. Plaintiff Leslie Hayes, a Goshen township resident, sought five thousand four hundred dollars. the jury awarded five thousand. Judge Will P. Stevenson presided in place of Charles G. White, who is serving in Hamilton county. Attorneys Britton & Britton for Hayes. William Q. Bishop and Murphy & Murphy for the Leever brothers. This marks one of Clermont County’s largest verdicts.

Corner Inn Drug Store Sold to Local Clarksville Pharmacist

Hershel Male, a registered Clarksville pharmacist and son of local mail carrier, has purchased The Corner Inn, previously run by Ein Schwartz as an ice cream parlor and lunch stand. The business, formerly occupied by John M. Brown as a drug store, is now under Mr. Male’s possession with plans to move his drug supplies in today. He previously worked for Dow Drug Co.

Clermont Native John S. Buchanan Dies in Los Angeles

Former Clermont county pioneer John Simmons Buchanan died March 18 in Los Angeles California. He was a son of John Buchanan of near Moscow and brother of Elizabeth B. Wiley formerly of Moscow. He was a well known figure in Clermont county as a young man with many relatives and friends.

Coal Lump Blocks Drain in Batavia Building

Rain flooded the cellar of the Hamilton Building in Batavia when a coal lump entered the drain opening. Workmen investigated and speculated on how the obstruction occurred as they cleared the blockage and resumed flow.
