Frosty winds whip area with loose debris
A cold front brought gusty 35 mph winds and scattered frost overnight. Weather observer Ray Diederich described the gusts as strong but not gale force and noted a squall line may bring heavy rain. Fiery Rt. 2 crash claims two Lorain teens
Two Lorain teenagers Gary Gonzalez and Yvette Rodriguez were killed when their westbound car on Rt. 2 near Rt. 254 in Sheffield Township was struck from behind by a car driven by Jerry Bogdanski. The crash caused both vehicles to burst into flames. Uriel Figueroa and Sandra Velasquez were hospitalized with burns and injuries. Police questioned who was driving the teen car as they investigate. The John R. Devin Funeral Home handles Rodriguez and Gonzalez arrangements.
